most powerful songs for you

what are some songs that are very powerful to you personally?
although i could list pretty much any tool song, the grudge and the patient from lateralus are very high up for me because i can relate them to events in my life. tool is such an amazing band...they capture so much raw and powerful human emotion in their music. can't say enough about 'em...

The Mars Volta -- Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
at the end he sings this arabian tune and hits a high note ... the first time i heard that high note, i had an honest-to-god manic episode, and could never imagine being that 'high' off a lyric in music ... which happens to be 'virulent hives' ... see my title --
that high note has NEVER lost 'novelty', and i've now listened to that song a truly obscene amount of times ...
The Mars Volta -- Concertina
the first song to ever tear my mind to shreds in beauty and fear while tripping to it for the first time i heard it ... i've never been so shaken up in my life ... to me, probably the most emotional and intense song i have ever heard ... though i could not understand the lyrics because i was tripping so hard on the first listen, the emotion underneath his voice was almost too much to mentally handle, and i wanted to die
some may say i'm too obsessed with the mars volta ... and maybe i am ... but no band has ever made me come closer to the brink of insanity while tripping, or made me feel more alive when sober ... the mix of amazing artistry and raw emotion has never seemed to work so well to me ... ever ... and i've never said that about anything else
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Box Set -- CD 2 -- Bold as Love (Instrumental Version)
the first time i heard this was not too long after doing acid for my first time ... i think this is the most 'majestic' song that i have ever heard ... as in ... if a song ever had emeralds embedded into the music, this is that song ... absolutely beautiful ...
Radiohead -- How to Disappear Completely
anybody who has ever heard this song knows exactly why i picked this ... there is one transient slide from a note which makes it 'happen' ... i don't even think i need to explain this choice ...
there are a lot of songs that give me emotional shivers, but i can't remember them all off the top of my head, so i picked the important ones for my life

hb i will have to check out those mars volta songs. i just got their most recent album but i've yet to give it a good listen-through.
i also forgot to mention 2 songs that i listened to that stuck in my head when i was tripping. "idiotheque" by radiohead and "i think i lost my headache" by queens of the stoneage were intense and really awesome on 5meodipt.

i don't know whether i like the Tremulant EP or Deloused more ...
i do tend to lean towards Tremulant, because it feels a lot more raw and powerful ... like a DMT blast compared to Deloused feeling like a long shroom or acid trip
the first time i heard tremulant was on an eighth of the most potent mushrooms i have ever ingested ... i never heard of the mars volta, or the cd, but my friend told us all to get into his car when we were all tripping hard ... he put on the cd, and i dont think ive ever felt emotion like that ... concertina sounded like he was singing the story of my life, which was to end that night ... that everything that has ever happened in the world was all just leading up to that epic night ...
and ever since, i have devoted a section of my life solely to the mars volta

I used to be REALLY into TOOL/Perfect Circle/NIN. Now the music just seems outdated and passe.
Songs that affect me... hmmm...
Flaming Lips- Waiting for a Superman Miles Davis- Kind of Blue (the ENTIRE album) Beck- Debra (when I'm in the the mood to GET DOWN) White Stripes- Ball and Biscuit Frank Zappa- Peaches en Regalia Nick Drake- EVERY ALBUM
I could keep going. But I won't.
Peace.

The most powerful, not necessarily best song that I know of is a saucerful of secrets by floyd. Me and my friends on grad night in disneyland took an 8th of shrooms each and tripped there. One of the best nights of my life. But the song reminds me of what the haunted mansion sounded like. Trips me out everytime.

Damn it, I could be here for a while lol...anyways, I guess i'll give you my top 3 and the reason why they are there, here it goes...
Bjork - I have seen it all That song is amazin, better than amazing, its just incredible, especially if you listen to the version in the movie (not the soundtrack) and you watched the movie...its a weird spiral of emotional pain and physical pleasure to me, and bjork's voice is just amazing, significant both because of the movie and because its the first bjork song that got me hooked...oh yeah, all of you go watch dancer in the dark ^^
bjork - joga Beautiful song, just great, I love it when she uses her vocals like in that song, it just creeps up your spine, feels like codeine
Marilyn Manson - Coma Black Favorite manson song of all times, it just sounds like there is so much emotion in that song, also the fact that at some point I felt all of those things and about all of those things, really a song I can connect too, and listening to it just brings me back, like time travel, but anyways, never heard anyone carry emotion in a song as well as when it hits two minutes and he says the thing in the middle of the song (you'll know what it is when you hear it...go get it now!)
Well I could go on and on and on, but yeah, right now thats my top 3 at the moment, i'll never not like any of those songs. Theres more songs I love and that just make me go crazy, but not as much as those.
