petri dish bacterial piggy-back riding?
    #26208490 -

Can I get some second opinions on what I'm looking at here, specifically at the marked areas:

then transfered to these:

I ran out of malt extract agar and this is my first time using potato dextrose agar. I've always ran my agar recipe a little light at 25g per 750ml. The first plates were single grains from MS grain jars tooken before spawning. The bulk trays are colonizing extremely fast and don't seem to have any signs of contamination (yet).

Does this look like bacteria to you? The original plates mycelium began to go very, very light after the first centimeter of growth or so.

Sorry for the bad pics. :\

Is it just me or do they all look bacterial?

im having issues myself with my malt extract agar plates, that the myc is growing slower than i remember compared to my old grow of pure agar-agar plates.

Yes, they all seem to be showing some bacterial signs. They have colonized grain jars and bulk substrates really fast. I'm about to fruit some trays spawned to bulk with these cultures and see what happens.

tray 5 days after spawning:

oh! well looks like it colonized those grains nicely then, with what i can see on the substrate through the potato camera pic hehe.

so you used those plates in the first pics to colonize? and how long did it take to colonize the grain jar with those plates?

just looking for some reference for my own plates that has grown 2cm in diameter after 4 days.

The first plates where a single grain of spawn extracted from strong growth in different jars before spawning to bulk. Then transfers were made from those to get the second set of dishes.

I also have seen this translucent leading edge, but don't know what it is.
