Mixed dog breeds or pedigree?
    #26199137 -

Thinking of getting a spaniel or a cross between a spaniel and labrador, called Springador (pic)

My last dog was a big one and she died from stomach bloat age 7....

I figured when you mix breeds like a spaniel and labrador it will take the best from both parents genes and will be a good healthy dog.

Looks like a nice dog!

I have a golden doodle.  He's gonna be 8 on the 30th.  Just went to the store and brought home a toy he used to have one just like.  Also a bunch of treats.

Next dog (sucks there will be a day without Bud D) thinking a bordoodle.  The two smartest dogs.  Marlee or black and white would be nice.

Mixed breeds are normally healthier than purebreds, and I find they generally have better temperaments, too.

Mixed and from the pound. Breeders have the shittiest dogs.

That's only because people inbred the purebreds.  Genetic testing helps have healthy dogs no matter the breed.

My dog is an F1 golden doodle and he still has health issues.  He has fatty tumors and perhaps from environment (chewed mom's cellphone as a pup and got real sick) he developed bilious vomiting syndrome.  When he gets hungry he throws up bilious.  He's on a mix of script dog food and a less expensive normal dog food.  Plus he won't drink much water so he is given 3.5 cups of water spread in 3 meals a day.

Sooner or later all breeds have health issues if they live long enough.

I can't stand supporting breeders.

I don't care if they take all the precautions.  There are MILLIONS of dogs to choose from that have NOWHERE to go.

My dog is mixed. I've always thought about mentioning them here or posting a pic but I'm too paranoid that the info could be used against me somehow. Not quite as bad as uploading a face pic but still

No you can breed purebreds without close ancestors.

this is what I was gonna say, I have an almost purebreed shih tzu and her whole life has suffered from reverse sneezing, it not too serious though you can fix it by holding their nose closed till they take a breath with their mouth

but we bred the dog with what looked like another shiz tzu, but the puppies came out terrier looking, and we kept one, she never suffers from reverse sneezing, she is a more active and friendly dog too

Purebred Doberman, he was a family dog.

He suffered from Wobblers and it was so fucking sad.  We gave him a quality life but still, I hated that he had to go through it.

Love dogs.  They love dependability and a schedule.  Way smarter than food.

My feelings exactly. Buying from a breeder is criminal IMO.

I've only had dogs from breeders and always had great dogs.  All too often a shelter dog has a rough past.

Closest doodle I've seen to me in a shelter was in Detroit.  Poor thing reminds me of my dog.  They gotta remember to love as it's in their nature.  The nature to defend tends to be strong.  I just don't have funds to do all I'd like.  My mom bought both my doodle and the bozer who's long gone.

I always got along with dogs.  Even when someone's bite me I didn't hate the dog.

Life's short and I want good dogs.  The early bonding is so important.

Maybe I'll try adopting some day.

If I could go a few years of talking to nobody except dogs and you guys I think I would be pretty happy. I get along with dogs much better than people. I have had so many times where people tell me not to go near a particular dog and the dog ends up cuddling with me.

I pretty much only talk to my dog and mom.  I have others, more rarely.

Dogs beat a girlfriend any day of the week.  Just know how to bust a nut.

The only day a dog will seriously break your heart, is when they pass over.  Good thing is dogs are kinda like woman, another one just knows how to heal you from the last.

They get better too.
