Congrats bud! How long have you been in the US? How do you like it compared to your home country?

I'd love to get a job up there because they pay so well, but since I tend to get sick pretty often I'd probably end up losing more than I'd be making! At least private healthcare is affordable and good here, public is available, some med student friend have seen sketchy practices, including doctors doing a line or two before a surgery  :snort: :eek: :butcher:

As far as goals, finding a local job that pays better than where I'm at or something remote that pays USD! That and keeping rock climbing up long enough to get half decent!

1.5 years, on and off (I travel a lot). I don't like it here in the NE, but I'm earning a lot and have all my living expenses paid too. I don't have a 'home country' as such, but the longest I lived anywhere was England for 22 years. It's much friendlier there, and people less brainwashed, IME. I'll probably catch some heat for saying that but it is what it is. Saying that, pretty much everywhere else I've been in the US (roadtripped coast to coast) was friendlier than here too.

Are you in the IT field? It's pretty easy to find remote work these days if you are. I work remote more often than not.

Glad to see you hanging around for a little while. Maybe we'll finally get together some time. A stout ovoid trip in nature would be nice:mushroom2:. God knows I've got enough this season. Been a busy end of Spring for me...tough to get time but that should be changing in a few weeks..:sunny::peace:

In America, no one takes offense to the idea that "everyone is brainwashed". Given nothing else to go on, they will just assume you mean the *other* side, and wholeheartedly agree with you, probably.

Personally I find it very hard to work on long-term plans. I am more of an opportunist and try and keep many options open at all time.

I was always that way inclined too.

Then life conspired to rob me of almost everything dear to me, including my sense of self.

Only in rebuilding from the shattered remains did I develop an ability to know exactly what my dreams are and plans to achieve them.

Yeah! I just applied for a remote position on a security gig, hopefully I'll get a call, I'm gonna send out more applications anyways. Scoring a remote job would mean I get to live like a king here (I get payed around 800 USD/mo and live decently), so motivation isn't lacking.

Because I've already been here for a year and a half, earning a shit ton and getting all my living expenses paid. Easier to stay than to pack up and move somewhere else at this point, moving is stressful.

It wasn't by choice I came here; I work for a company based in the UK and they sell my service as a consultant. I.e. their client here wanted my skillset. I wasn't offered another choice.

Nonetheless, I'm extremely grateful for my time here. Very glad I know that this is how people live here. I'll be off into the sunset (Australia) soon enough...
