A pic of my grand-baby 'n me!
#7575375 - 10/30/07 03:45 AM (16 years, 3 months ago) |
|
|
As of 1:47am on Oct. 30th MIC and Fixer became one of, if not the only husband-wife pair of Shroomerites to become grandparents!
Update as of 4:00am...Baby has lots of brown hair... Our daughter described the experience of birth saying she was "elated" the first time she saw her baby. Along with initial bonding...baby was nursing well. I got off the phone when they came to weigh her.... At 5:00 we heard the baby weighed in @: 7 1/2 lbs. Healthy baby healthy mother.
I celebrated with a bowlful and acted goofy over seeing the first pics our son-in-law brought over but, no one noticed anything. They know that's how I get whenever I get mega-enthusiastic over anything.
I'll bring some cake to school tomorrow to share with my colleagues and send some to my hus's school too. Our son-in-law is one special guy! Our daughter is a trooper big time and we're so happy for both of them and everyone from our families on all sides. Multi-faceted family...shine on...!
Will post pics to my journal within the week.
Pleased to share the news with y'all!
~MIC

You said it! Have you paced the floor with a newborn in the night? It's an investment for the future. It teaches you patience. I need to re-cultivate it now that basically no one wakes me up in the night anymore. I plan on taking this little one to the library in a back pack first chance I get. They love riding like that.

It's amazing that a being so dependent and who wakes you up eats and poops in the middle of the night and spits up in your lap and hardly naps by day can generate so much love and devotion! It's God way of keeping human kind going me thinks.
BTW Liz, you gotta ring and a date for the fiance to make it "legal" or are you using the term loosely? No comment about that, just curious.

We didn't at all till this past year after all the craziness of our H.S. days. It's a Mid-life crisis thing. It's none of anyone's bees-wax.
I'm planning on posting a queery as to what others do to cover up usage. I'd be listing how to ensure my kids don't know and they'd be listing how they make sure thier parents don't lol. Some parents allow for a certain ammount at home only anyway.

Congratulations!
Sometimes I wish I could by-pass all the mother crap ( I know that sounds so maternal) and go straight to grandma-hood!
Now you can have a little fun maybe? Or are you on an on-call for the new mommy and any questions thing?

Mush~ I'm glad to hear from you..
Being on-call, which I am since I just got off the phone to answer some nursing questions, is fine with me. My youngest is 5 so I'm still semi-fresh in the memory of what to do/not do and she's well read having spent hours on a site called cafemom for expectant mums.
The baby is so sweet and you can't help but feel yummy around her. There's a special gift given to a new-born that makes the caregivers want to take care of them since they're so helpless.
"Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your teenagers" my sister said and it's so true. The mom of my grandbaby gave me a run for my money. She's grown up a lot and fortunately I forgot a lot or I'd resent her terribly. Instead I'm just pleased that the birth was healthy and normal and that's filled my heart where the resentment was.
Wishing you the same pleasure of watching the next generation sprout forth like mushrooms after rain. If only labour were that easy! lol

Sorry that I JUST saw this - I do have a ring, yes We're tossing around dates sometime next fall...we've both been so busy though, and he's in school....we're not in any rush to do it. I do like the ring though

Liz~ I'd love to design your dress for you whenever the time comes and what's he aiming towards for his degree? I'm always curious about that stuff.
Tripity~Just fasten their seat belts and hang on...it's a roller coaster ride with them kids once they hit the teens but then when the ride is over you unbuckle 'em, kiss 'em and welcome 'em back.
As long as they don't do damage in between, they usually survive those years appreciating your patience and support...and then they give you grandchildren.

Hey!
Do you really design dresses? I have always wanted to wear something totally unique on that special day. He is going to school for his bachelors in electrical engineering
Here is a picture from the night we got engaged, and one of my ring

Awwww so so cute

This was VERY funny Soul!
LIZ! That ring is almost as beautiful as you are...what a lucky (and may I say hot?) guy.. My guy has a beard too but not nearly as full. I say it's good cuz then I get the beauty of both sides...I can tell what he looks like with it and without it. Actually, that was years ago. It's filled in nicely since then.
You look to be about my size. I can't actually produce a dress patten but when it gets within say, 6-8 months of the date I would be proud to have already produced drawings for ya! You'll have to describe your taste which seems modest and I gotta praise you for that!
Strapless always seems odd to me. It's like saying "Check out what he's getting guys!" I don't personally feel comfortable with that but you name it and I'll draw front back and sides for you with pleasure. I can snail mail it or fax but if you don't want to give out a snail mail to a stranger (And some Shroomery people are stranger than others ) then we'll do the P.O. box thing like for spores. lol
Get some Bridal mags from the library and that will help you plan and it'll make it more real too.
So...electrical engineering...what a "turn on". Good luck with it all.
Be well, <3 Monique ~My French name...not my real one, hey, it's the internet right?

You think his beard is full?! In that picture he had JUST trimmed it He's typically much fuzzier than that
I definitely don't want a strapless dress. Not only do I not have the body for it, but it wouldn't be flattering on me. I'd like something comfortable, simple, and gorgeous. Maybe a halter style? I like those. I was even thinking of not wearing white (*gasp*) but maybe a really, really light shade of baby blue (my favorite color).
And, I'd feel comfortable giving you my address - you don't seem too weird We're still pondering when to do it - we might wait until we can go on a 2 month honeymoon afterwards, which would be nice. We'll see!

Hi, When I say "full beard" I mean covering all the chin till the cheeks and meeting the mustache. My guy's skin can be seen through the hair even when it's untrimmed.
Baby blue halter is it! Sounds just lovely. This is fun.
A honeymoon of more than 2-3 weeks can lead to one of you wanting to get back to "normal" before the other but proper vacation soon after the official honeymoon is a whole 'nother ballgame as it doesn't have the same pressure and/or expectations. Just a suggestion.
Weird is relative I guess so if you trust this pre-school teacher axe murderer, oops, naw, scratch that last part lol....then I'm game for a Red Socks/Yankees game with y'all next season. LET'S GO YANKEES!
