My first Reishis

I started these reishi bags on 3-29, they've only just been placed in fruiting about a week ago. They are fuel pellets with 20% wheat bran, made with grain spawn I ordered, I let them sit till they reached the top of the bag thinking I'd just fruit them in the bag as antlers, but realized a smaller inch depth in the bag is used for doing that and they looked like they really needed some room, so I cut the tops off and placed in fruiting, do these look like they are staying antlers or will continue to conk and when would you pick these? I know their still growing cause of the white tops but just wanted an opinion on them.



Going to do a couple petri dishes tonight too, do I just grab from inside the white head?

I Also expanded to a few more quarts of rye with the leftover grain spawn, so these ones were made 10 days later on 4-10 and are a lot slower, but I think these ones are conking earlier and look a little different. The sides grew to the the top of the bag, didnt know if it should be cut off or if more would fruit from it so I just left it.





Im just running a coolmist around 5 minutes an hour with the zippers unzipped with a fan running outside of it, sometimes leaving it open for a bit, no misting directly but would it help? Figured theyre good with just the humidity.

Reishi can survive fairly low humidity since theyre so woody. Misting in the mornings wouldnt hurt. Those are looking good!

If they are exposed like that they are going to convert to conk form unless your FC is airtight; nice grow, I love red reishi. For cloning, yes, split the mushroom and with a sterile scalpel cut out a piece of pure internal flesh (not exposed to the outside world.) Best of luck!

Thanks man, so im confused about if the goal is to grow antlers big and then make them conk, or growing to either antler or conk but not both, as far as I can tell these are not going to conk, maybe the ones on bottom, but the top ones which were done 10 days earlier with different spawn, (rye instead of millet), they just keep growing... So I made a few dishes of both the top and bottom shelf, just to experiament, but when I pick the rest ill make more, I actually found it hard to just grab an inside piece so i cut a wedge out of the tip with just a small section of the outside exposed, did grow good but ill try to just get the inside next time. So when you pick you just saw each one off with a little stump left right so it continues to grow? Also they arent exposed, the door stays down Ive been leaving it unzipped, spraying in the morning and fanning, with a fan running so theyd conk but I guess these top ones are almost ready and arent going to, what do you think?




This ones almost to the top, no more room!
