Reishi conk formation Q's
    #21992519 - 07/24/15 08:54 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

They are about 12 days old. Got large fairly quickly but then quit. The yellowish(bruising?) patches showed up in the last few days along with lots of holes(pores?) but not just on the bottom?

Thinking about just cutting the top off and giving up on the conks, specially since i read they can drop a lot of spores.

Here's the other bag. For something that had a 10 day spawn run, sure takes a long time to form the mushrooms.

This is my first time growing Reishi so id appreciate any advice. What do you guys think? 99% humidity, (5) 1 minute long fan cycles an hour.(pre humidified air)

my reishi did not have the yellow bruising; however they did take a very long time to go from white to yellow to brown and then eventually all brown except white on the botton on the pores side.

it took a very long time and some of the antlers on my antler kit did not develope into nice looking mushrooms they looked knotted mangled and oddly developed.

conks are the way to go in my opinion

dont give up on your conks they will develope. just make sure you mist them a few times a day... i noticed the more vigilant i was in misting them the better and faster they grew. perhaps the yellowing is from not misting them enough.

i forgot to mist my reishi for two days and BAM my whole desk was covered in brown spores.

my advice is to keep misting them and to keep paper or alluminum foil under the conks so that when they do drop spores you get a ton of spores for a spore print for future cultivation!

good luck and dont give up faith yet; they may just need some water.

Looks like that bruising is the start of conk formation. I had my reishi blow a hole through the bottom of the bag. It looked like a blob for a long time, but the bold slowly developed into a conk. This is the conk at 3 weeks from inoculation:

A bit of a mutant but hey. There are now three daily large conks coming out the bottom.

I guess I will keep doing nothing and see what happens.

That's a crazy conk fresh!
