Northern NSW, Australia

Habitat:
Grew in paddock both in and near cow dung.

Gills:
Brown to black, new to shrooms so not sure on rest

Stem:
Length ranged from 2cm to about 10, white, bruised blue. Relatively thin and hollow

Cap:
Diameter ranged from about 3cm to 15cm. (just guessing didnt measure). Goldish brown in center and sort of faded out as it got to edge of cap

Spore print color: looked black

Bruising:
Blue







I'm 95% sure this is what I'm after but just want more opinions.

Just curious what's the most common cubensis lookalike located in nsw Australia. I found a few today that looked like cubes and bruise like cubes, but I'm not entirely sure.

There are no real look alikes as such, since P. cubensis has quite prominent macroscopic
features that distinguishes it from other dung loving species. Beginners might however confuse
some species of Agrocybe and Stropharia with P. cubensis.

It is quite impossible to tell what you found without a) pictures and b) a better description.

So the best way I can describe these ones without pictures, is that the gills were more of a white grey, and were covered by a white veil (is that the thin layer that covers the gills?). Although I think that veil has now turned black since being removed from gills and is now just on the stem.

See how in the first pictures I posted they're gold in the center and sort of faded to white? The tops of these were mostly gold without any white.

This is only on 3 of the shrooms I picked. All the others are definitely cubes.
