I just downed two of these babies (my first ever cyans!! here's the pics. Sorry they're not any clearer, but it was sort of a public place and I didn't want to look too suspicious. In total I got about 40, but I left another 40 or so small ones, and I could see tons more pins poking up

I'll be sure and get some better pics in the next few days

Yesss, with how the weather's been this year, who knows what could happen this season? Hopefully another 2004. No pins coming up in the Portland area yet when I checked yesterday, but more rain's a'coming. Happy fall mushroom season brethren!

Went and checked out some of my known azurescens patches near the coast on thurs and fri. Didn't see anything yet. I think it needs to get colder and more rain, which it is supposed to all week(sorry to talk about the weather, but it is directly related to mushroom hunting...)

there is sort of an informal pickers forum for edibles at www.matsiman.com
well, they'll get into the weather talk all day long...haha
seems to be of some significance when it comes to fungus

It is certainly of significance, though then the rule was set in place, there were numerous new threads being started, by people just bitching about the weather in their area, or saying it is raining, and then everyone in that region comes in with the same or slightly different experience, and that it sucks, or they're excited, and it was just polluting the threads/forum. It was annoying to skim through to get to the goods, and only people from the area being discussed actually gave a damn. It just got out of hand.

I went about 30 minutes east of Portland today and found some mushies. Not sure what most of them are but I'm taking prints and I'm pretty sure that one is a shaggy mane.
I tromped around in the woods for like an hour or an hour and a half and didn't find ANY mushrooms. Then I go to the field/picnic area and find a couple, including the shaggy mane. I went to a picnic area that was taped off (except the side of it was open) and had lush, green grass that made me think it was purchased and laid there. That's where most of the mushrooms were found.

Not much, but here's my first sighting of the season:

Found a second grouping in a surprisingly exposed pile of chips (sorry, no pic)
Good Luck to everyone, -DD
BTW this thread needs more pics!!!

holy shit im suppose to check my cyan batches today but I don't even think it'd be worth the trip now because of the lack of finds, and I really do agree that cyans like the cold weather and cold rain, and would usually sprout in middle of October at least most batches, but no turning back now already set the day to go hunt

In northern Washington i have found 2 patches of cyans and a bunch of patches of interesting, yet non-active varieties. i think an inch of rain in 2 days is perfect.
