Have you seen the movie? It makes a great attempt at showing what it's like to trip on psychedelics, the good and bad. It's also pretty funny, visually it's a marvel to look at.I haven't seen it tripping but I can only imagine how cool it would be,it contains lots of things that trip me out.

Read the book! It's one of the funniest books I've ever read. I thought the movie didn't even do it justice, just my opinion.

nonetheless, gillian did a terrific job at interpruting thompson's f&l. not to mention, depp and del toro do a very note-worthy performance of duke and gonzo. i thought that although the movie failed to add certain events from the book, it really did a fantastic job at conveying exactly what thompson wrote.

haha i love that movie , johnny depp is hilarious.. and i can relate to some of the things he's had to go through.. like when he was tripping in the line and had to talk to that lady with the flying scarf heh, and the carpet going up the walls.. that movie is awesome... that purposely made the las vegas scenes very trippy, like when there driving around town, there's always neon behind them..and the credits at the end are trippy cuz they go across the road.... what was that stuff that johnny depp took.. that red stuff in the vile that he said was PURE ADRENALINE or something like that?.. is that stuff real? and what were those little poppers that they called the "medicine" ?

the ether was when duke and dr. gonzo went to bazooko's circus and the mescaline wasn't working. those little "poppers" were, i believe, cocaine. as for the adrenachrome, i've never done it before but if duke's reaction to it is even slightly truthful, ain't no way in hell i'm tryin it. thats shit i wouldn't want to mess with.

I don't know. The book and the movie both seemed to concentrate on the negative side of psychadelic drug use. The movie struck me as being funny and sad but definately not a positive look at drug use.------------------ What does it all mean?

Ok, hmmm where to start. Hunter Thompson (author of fear and loathing) tackles a lot of deeper issues in his book. It isn't just the surface story about giong crazy on drugs in vegas. Its more about the failure of the 60's to create real lasting change, and how people are trying to cope with the foul state the world. Its a sad story, at least how I see it. Notice the whole point of their journey is to find the "american dream" which is exactly what they find in vegas. A pathetic attempt by average people to win the capitlistic gamble and triumph over the casino (corporatation, sytem, etc). Just a short synopsis, read the book. Don't just read the words, really read it. After about 20 times it will all begin to make sense g-dub

I didn't like how the movie dropped the whole "search for the American Dream" part of the story. ------------------ What does it all mean?

Yes unfortunately like most movies these days they strayed away from the deeper parts that might raise alarming questions... What happened to good ole movies like apocolypse now that left the viewer traumatized in a good way?g-dub
