Tornado season

These strong winds got me spooked. Did some research, and realized i live right down fucking tornado alley.

That map is old. Global warming has moved tornado alley significantly further east.

theres very rarely any tornados here,next to none, my ex was absolutely petrified of them and hurricanes anytime the wind picked up and it was warm out

I got pretty close to a tornado a few years ago

Also saw a funnel cloud over Home Depot

For sure....seems like Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida Pan Handle all seem to get hit nowadays as well as the Eastern seaboard up through the Carolinas and into Virginia and Maryland.

I just read a study done by a group of climatologists that says there will be so much change in the next several decades that by 2080, Maryland and Pa. weather will be similar to what the weather in Mississippi and La. is currently....that's just 60 years! Crazy times. Lol, probably fake news though, we need to start burning that "clean coal"! The dirty coal is messing us up.:lol:

A bunch of people were killed at the Amazon warehouse in Baltimore last fall in a tornado.



Do you remember the college park tornado that hit the high rise dorms at UMD? Two sisters were killed in the parking lot



That tornado started near the White House in DC and went all the way up to laurel.

Salisbury has a tornado last spring. Lol this video is funny. I don’t live close enough to Baltimore to get the local station but the reporter in the story in a friend of mine. It’s weird seeing him on tv.



There was also a tornado that took out cherry trees on the tidal basin two years ago. It went right over the pentagon and got within 1/4 mile of the Washington monument

No strong winds today, but there's been a couple of times recently where the wind was so high it was almost blowing me over and I had to grab hold of something to keep from going over. The other day it wasn't quite that high but it was raining and blowing the rain sideways to the point you couldn't even hide from it under the bridge. Apparently a torando touched down not that far away from me that day.

The idea of tornadoes scares the crap balls outta me. We get cyclones here, but at least with them we get a few days warning.

They scare the shit out of me too.. The closest I've ever been to one is there was a small one a few streets over from me that just damaged some trees. Never been close to one that destroyed houses or anything. Never want to be. When the weather looks particularly ominous I get on edge a lot. You can just sort of feel in the air that it's a very real possibility one could spring up and I hate that feeling.

I've witnessed one while standing on my front porch a few years ago,,,turned into a water spout when it hit the Bay....very uneasy feeling watching that. Makes you feel pretty powerless. Probably my worst fear would be having one hit in the early morning hours when you can't see.....can't think of anything much more terrifying than that.

The worst winds I’ve experienced was the 2012 derecho. That was legit hurricane force winds. Something like 5% of trees in the area were taken down. I was driving home when it hit and there was a river of branches and leaves flowing down the road. A power line was stung across my driveway and it took 8 days before a power crew from south Florida got out electricity back on.

Lots of strong winds in the Southwest part of the country.  SoCal was supposed to be getting hurricane strengths gusts of wind.  Colorado and Utah were expecting Blizzards this week.  Wind has kind of calmed down where I am.
