Frost got my tomato seedlings so I started over. Got a few starts to hedge my bets. Also bought 4 blueberry bushes, going to plant them on the slope behind my garden. And 6 more asparagus crowns making 27 asparagus. My valerian, Mugwort, and tobacco seedlings are looking good. Datura hasnt germinated yet. Lettuce, radishes, spinach, and kale are all growing. Started some basil and cilantro also.

Put some kale out yesterday and going to plant tomatillos and peppers soon

bought lettuce starts that are filling in quite nice.

None of my peppers germinated in time :frown: I think it might have been too cold. I have 2 purple cayennes tho. I recycled all the soil so they might pop up in the garden. I'll probably buy some if theres any that look good. I have a shit ton of black and purple tomatos so I guess im mostly doing tomatos and greens while switching over to perenials. I planted a bunch of oregano thyme and mint last week.

I also started a weed plant that I'll probably throw under some giant power lines in the country if it looks right. It might get effing huge.

What do you make with your tomatillos? I started growing them because they are so dang cute. I don't know what they're used for except salsa which is pretty good. I can only eat so much salsa though.

Harvested Jerusalem artichokes today, apparently they're sweetest in the spring before the last frost date, I'm going to treat them like sweet potatoes and make pie...and now I'll see if I can naturalize some by the river and see if they will dominate the impenetrable weeds down there.

Only yesterday bought 3 potted Lavender bushes and put them strategically throughout my garden. Strategically, because Lavender keeps away plant pests

I stole a tiny mint plant from the city garden. It was overgrown and would be cut anyways. Not sure what kind it is, but smells great. So now I'm growing mint too!

I don't think they are sweet enough for pie. Maybe shepherds pie.

Google says they have double the sugar content of sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatos have 27 grams though and jerusalem artichokes dont produce sugar or starch, they make inulin, which is a prebiotic fiber that can only be consumed by microorganisms. The last time I tried them they weren't sweet.

The proof being in the pudding I think I'll just have to add less sugar to the milk and eggs.

Yeah I nibbled on some raw. They had a faint taste of chestnut, a texture kinda like radish (I'm off to the fridge to try another)...It'd be better if I had a sweet potato to compare it with.

I finall got a cucumber sprout.  I also have two marijuana seedlings and a couple of my cherry cuttings took. I gave one to my friend. now I have one cherry tree and one clone. I also have a few more pits germinating.

I will probably start some pumpkins and zucchini then just sow the rest directly when its time to plant.

It's hard to tell with the google results. Sugar can be a variety of things from fiber to fructose. It all depends on the bonds, and some sugars can be much sweeter than others.
