What are you growing in your garden this year? What do you want to be growing? Feel free to share pictures and any tips or garden related stuff.


This is a list of newly planted plants and I might have went a little overboard this year. I'm running out of room for everything and growing season barely started.

Strawberries
Poppies- Danish Flag, Gigantineum, California varieties
Autumn Crocus (Saffron)
Collards, Kale, and Mustard Greens
Cucumbers- 10 plants so I'll have to learn to make pickles
Chives
Sunflowers- Regular and Toy Bear
Tomatoes- Atkinson variety?
Tomatillos
Broccoli
Bell Peppers- Red, Yellow, Green, and Chocolate
Onions
Artichokes
Japanese Forest Grass- 1 sprout out of 100 seeds so far
Passion Flower varieties- 130 seeds, but only 1 sprouted
Cherry Tree
10 Avacado Trees
Lemon Tree
Squash- Acorn and Zucchini
Blood Grass
Khat- if it gets through customs
Cannabis- Many varieties
1 Leek
Potatoes- red, finger, russet, and golden
Bean Bushes
Peas
Peaches
Plums
Carrots
Aztekium Riterii
Probably a few things I forgot too

I also joined the Audubon Society for $10 and they sent me 12 3' trees to grow. I will keep 1 or 2 and sell the rest or plant them around town once they get here.

I don't have the best conditions right now either, but thankfully no snow. I started a lot of seedlings under my weed lights about a month ago to give them a head start. I think I waited too long last year and didn't have a great harvest because of that. What kind of stuff do you normally grow?

I like to try and grow cold hardy fruits:
Hardy Kiwi
Blue Sausage Fruit
Cactus fruits
Pawpaw
And some usual others like apples/pears/plums

Last year I grew 2 Passiflora species that both lasted through the winter and frost/snow; Incarnata and Caerulea.
So this year I bought 5 more; Mixta, Ligularis, Pinnatistipula, Tarminiana, Antioquiensis. They are high altitude species so I'm hoping they can live through snow and frost too.

Also germinating some Mountain Papaya, Blue Java Banana, and Pink Banana at the moment too.

Sounds like a nice selection you have there. I never heard of a blue sausage fruit so I'll have to look that one up. I heard of pawpaw, but never got to try one when I lived on the east coast. I don't think they sell them over here.

I think my Passiflora seeds came from ebay with 5 varieties mixed up. Only 1 sprouted out of 100 so I got 30 bright yellow passion flowers too. The first batch of 100 came from overseas so I think that's why they didn't sprout. Maybe because they were X-rayed at customs or got too cold or something?

I wonder if I could grow a coffee tree here? That would be nice to have my own coffee brand.

I don’t have really anything going on right now because there’s still a lot of snow covering everything, but I grow a bunch of stuff every year.  Couple types of tomatos, peppers, some kind of leafy greens, cucumbers, basil, strawberries, etc.  Last year I grew watermelons.  I grow a patch of poppies every year.  Landscape this one area with colorful coleus.  My yard naturally grows shit like peppermint, spearmint, lemon balm, cape gooseberries, raspberries, etc.  I grow a bunch of other flowers, lantana, lobelia, petunias, geraniums or begonias, dahlia, etc.  My cacti are all dormant in the garage until it stops being cold.  I’m ready for winter to be over.

Grow some holy basil. Its one of the greatest pollinator plants. It brings in so many crazy bugs. Bees love it.

I'm gunna sow some carrots and lettuce tomorrow. Started 2 flats of seeds yesterday. Trying to figure out building a squash trellis with some 4x4s i have. Limited on space, tryna go vert bro. 

Im gunna do a goth garden this year. I just ordered a buncha purple and black plant seeds.  I wanna grow hops and native berries maybe get some asparagus rhizomes.

Mostly peyote and a few trichocereus that all come inside for the winter. I have an Opuntia that survives winters outside. We haven't been doing a vegetable garden the last couple years. This area has a rat problem.

Planting herbs is a good idea. I don't have any of those going yet.

I have a lot of cacti, flowers, and ornamental grasses that I grow in my front yard with wood chips in between. I knocking up all the chips with Cyan spores so I can mushroom hunt in my front yard soon. My most prized plant is my biggest peyote and I have a harden'd Bridgesii Penis plant. I'll post up some pics tomorrow or later tonight.

This thread inspired me to make another 4' x 8' raised bed planter. I built it and then filled it halfway with soil and then gave up. That is a shit ton of soil to fill 32sq ft of soil. I'll have to finish tomorrow.

I am sooooooo far behind because of this idiot greenhouse project I started in the fall. Managed to get a bed for my onion seedlings raked in yesterday and got the asparagus cleaned up and fertilized today. Everything else is gonna have to wait until I finish the foundation.

Just sowed some datura stramonium, hopi tobacco, valerian select, and some Mugwort. My chacruna plants are looking good. Lost a couple cause the cats peed in the pots and killed them over winter 😞

Have a bunch of different tomatoes germinated and some jalapenos that havent come up yet. Need to sow some greens and stuff. Will be planting sunflowers, pole beans, and sweet potatoes too.

I plan to grow my usual staples (tomatoes, various hot peppers, butternut squash, zucchini, spinach, and some sort lettuce.)

Also trying strawberries, artichokes, onions, and mustard greens.

Probably a lot more stuff as well, (I tend to go a bit plant crazy sometimes) but we'll see.

I got my Catha Edulis (Khat) seeds in the mail today! Thanks for letting them through customs officers!

Anybody ever grow or try this stuff? I haven't grown or consumed them and am just kind of guessing on what they like. I should probably look it up before I kill them off.

Theres a bunch of ethiopians in my area. I might waltz into one of there hang outs and ask "wheres the khat"

Here are some pics of my SS Sweet Skunk Autoflower. These are an experimental grow and that is why they look the way they do. They are being grown in a room that ranges from 38 to 60 degrees with no heat. I'm surprised they're even growing.

This will be my first year for a long time growing anything. My back garden has been neglected for a long time and I'm only just getting out to sort it, but the weather is still a bit shite:shrug:

I'm germinating a lot of stuff indoors, mostly chillies, scotch bonnet, harbinaro, jalapeno, cayenne, bhut jolokia, Anaheim, serrano plus a few others.

I have these mad looking Rose's and chrysanthemums that are all rainbow coloured, but they're not germinating yet. Some p. Viridis leaves that I'm trying to root, californian poppies and I have ps. Cyancens colonizing wbs which will go out when it gets warmer.

That's about it atm. I've had success with carrots, peas and potatoes in the past so I might fire some of them out the back when it gets nicer.

If I get a good lot of chillies this year is anyone interested in trading seeds? I was maybe going to start a thread in the marketplace :shrug:

cannabinated inspired me to plant some holy basil, we have a honey bee hive going so that'll be interesting.

I usually plant a bunch of thai chili's, bell peppers, and herbs like basil and, cilantro and thyme.

This year I'm getting a small kale garden going.

Also will be attempting cannabis for the first time, as it's finally legal.

Short growing season nowadays compared to a year long growing season most of my life.
Greenhouse has been essential to me over the last couple years.

I've kept it simple. 80% of the growing space goes to weed, and the rest of the open space between the weed plants I have tomatoes and different kinds of peppers. Basil, rosemary, thyme, and parsley dotted along.
Onions as well.
Garlic lining the outside of the greenhouse.

That's it I think.

3 Summers ago, I went all in with every root veggie you can think of along with the other things I mentioned previously, and it was just a massive mistake literally trying to take care of 15 plus different crops by myself. The corn was the worst! :lol:
