Psychedelics for stress
    #11783344 -

Do you think psychedelics can be used to combat stress? I've come to the conclusion that a lot of my physical/mental problems are brought about by stress. I didn't recognize a lot of my problems as possibly being from stress, I got all the physical ailments first, then when under the influence, I got the mental ailments; negative self talk, anxiety, etc. It all started at the same time and got progressively worse, coincidentally when I moved on in a part of my life, but that's besides the point. I've decided to change eating habits, sleeping habits, etc. etc. but I wondered if maybe psychedelics could help me out in sorting out a) why I'm so stressed in the first place and b) how should I deal with my problems? The drug in question is mescaline, and a rather high dose at that, alone in the mountains. Just looking for constructive criticism and similar stories.

For me, psychedelics seem to magnify any pre-existing stress and are sometimes a little bit stressful themselves even with amazingly great trips. Maybe they could help you understand the stress from a different perspective. It could also just turn into a confusing and stressful 10 hours.

This.  If you're looking for drugs to temporarily alleviate stress I'd suggest booze, benzos or opiates but these are not healthy long term solutions.

I'd say no. You might relax a bit while under the influence, but it won't be good for your general mental health to try and fix stress with any recreational drug IMHO.

If you are looking for some self improvement, start by getting sober and clean. Then try and find why you are stressed. School, Bills, work, whatever. Address those issues, first. Get help from family or even a doctor or shrink.

Once you feel good about yourself, then think about the drugs again. Tripping is great when life is good and there is nothing to worry about. If you don't do it this way, you will likely spiral down and make problems worse. I've seen it many times.

Well that's what all my previous experiences have been like except one, but I never really attributed it to being the signs of stress or mental anguish until recently. I feel like if I go into this next one knowing what my objective is, rather then just wanting to have fun, I should have better then usual results.

Not looking to temporarily alleviate anything, I want to use psychedelics to discover the root of my problems - I thought this was pretty common?

I havn't done ANY drugs (beside the occasional blast off) in over a year, I am very sober and clean.

Remember: set and setting.

If you're already stressed or anxious, dosing is only going to make matters worse. A lot worse.

Well here's the difficult part, I'm not necessarily stressed or anxious in everyday activity - but the supposed stress underneath the surface is causing physical ailments such as sleeping problems and aches and pains, etc. This is one thing I've learned from psychedelics, I know when something isn't right within myself, as opposed to being blind to my own emotions. I've changed everything that I can on a physical plane, such as exercise and proper diet - but I'm struggling to find a way to deal with the real "issues" at hand, I guess, because there aren't any literal ones, just my own personal shortcomings and other things of that nature.

In regards to setting, I'd be definitely taking a leap here and leaving the confinement of my home (usual psychedelic forefront of mine) and escaping into the mountains, something I have not done in way too long. I think this would be an acceptable setting, even though I've never been to this particular region before, mostly because it's a beautiful and serene location.

I think that a mild/medium psychadelic experieince could put your life into perspective, escpecially if you tripped in the mountains...

It could let you realize that stuff you're stressing out about now, may be pretty tiny, and insignificant in the grand scheme of things...

Also, a psychadelic trip for me sort of feels like a new beginning. The next day, i am ready for new growth and personal change. It could be a good kick-start in getting your life turned around..

OR, you could worsen your problems, you could dwell on what you've been anxious about, and it could send you into a dark place, alone, in the wild.

It can go either way man.

Yeah, well, anything worth doing can't be easy I suppose.

I tend to think of it the other way around. Anything worth doing should be the easiest thing ever. We are conditioned to feel as though we have to work for our own happyness, it doesn't have to be like this. Sure, you have to do some bullshit, but that shit falls into the not worth it pile for me. (even if they are things that keep me indoors in the winter, buy me food etc.)

The stuff that IS worth doing, should be easy, because you understand its worth, and genuinly WANT to do it as a result. Anything that you genuinly want to do should feel easy. If it doesn't, you're probably acting out of obligation or fear...or something along those lines....

Your state of mind is what potentially turns hard work into an enjoyable and easy experience.

You can do whatever the hell you want, earth is your sandbox, go play!

it all depends on your mindset... unfortunately it's a little difficult for me to explain what i'm really trying to say in words. look at it like this: if you believe that tripping will enhance your stress than it likely could

for me tripping has always been great for stress

i guess it really just depends with what you are able to do with your mind

wow, did that make ANY sense?

Perfect sense

I guess my only real qualm now is do I take the higher or lower dose.

I have never tried anything from psychedelic drugs, I tried only sedatives from the site https://www.marijuanabreak.com/cherry-pie-strain. I know there from different varieties of marijuana make medicinal preparations. I wonder if it is possible to attribute some herb to psychedelics?
