Recently watched a documentary on rewilding

it is a process of letting "Nature" reclaim certain areas impacted by humans
but what initially seemed like it was going to be a relatively positive thing turned sour

in the Netherlands, reclaimed land was given to large herbivores
that then began to starve to death because the ecosystem had no predators to keep numbers in line
but then that contrasts with Canada where we have huge swathes of natural land we try to preserve
and have a caribou herd rapidly losing numbers in one of national parks
because cross country skiers compress snow down giving wolves paths to track and hunt the caribou in what would normally be a safe environment from predation (caribou can deal with deeper snow than wolves)

so we suck at bringing back wild spaces,
and the impact of one human looking to get back in touch with the wild can change predation patterns and nearly wipe out a caribou herd

it is interesting that across Europe there is a push to turn abandoned rural areas back into wild settings
but figure the best we will get is overly dramatic zoos in the face of dwindling natural areas with climate change

that is enough rambling out of me, ought to go meditate; Shroomery has an uncanny capacity to distract me before sitting down for it x-X

Happily, your worries are only temporary!  Are you familiar with the Kardashev scale of civilization?

In order for humanity to avoid extinction, we will wipe everything wild off the face of the planet.  Not a single hydrocarbon will be created without our knowledge and control, and every one of them will be dedicated to human survival and nothing else.

The only animals we will allow to survive are the food animals, and extremely small ones the elites might be allowed to keep as pets.

And that’s just for a lv 1 civilization.

We will eventually expand our control to the solar system and the sun itself.

has anyone heard about car-t cancer therapy? wild stuff.
car-t stands for Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell.
they harvest a patient's own T cells, culture them, and then use a viral vector to give those T cells the code for a target receptor that don't come naturally- one which recognizes the markers on cancer cells.
The cells then get put back into the patient, but now they have the code for the cancer marker, and they are far more effective at recognizing/binding the cancer cells and killing them.

genetic engineering is now.

How long before theres actual AI walking about doing stuff. I dont think it's too far off. They've already made them sex robots that look real, and what does that say about humans? We've got to where we've nearly created AI and the first thing people want to use it for is shagging:shrug:
