I want to ask a girl I work with out without sounding like a moron
    #25821204 -

(I want to make a point at the start of saying that I haven't been on this website in 7 years and I'm that bothered I've come to you in my hour of need)

Onward to the post:

Right, so I have an interest in a girl I work with. She's pretty, funny (I make her laugh; she makes me laugh), we're somewhat flirty/jokey/teaseful when we're on the same shift, and just in general I get good vibes/sparks while around her.

I recently have been offered a new job that will be a really excellent career choice for me and I want to do something to stay in touch before I leave the store we both work at.

So here's my conundrum; I haven't had much luck with women in the most recent past and I want to really make sure I go about this right this time.

Is it better to come on strong or try to play more cool? (Example answers below)
Which is best

Just mention how you are leaving for a new job and then say something like "I won't be seeing you at work anymore, but give me your number so we can hang out sometime" Don't say stupid shit like "Aye".

Ask her out and don't expect anything.  Making it happen can be her dream but what else does she dream of?

Ladies want to dream too.  They want someone to read their mind in a loving way.  They control you.  Don't let sperm get in the way as those buggers will drive you crazy.

This sort of thing. Come on honest, not strong.  Let her know you enjoy her company and would love to go out sometime,  since you're leaving can you swap numbers? Rather than telling her to give number,  that'd annoy some people.

I dated a girl I felt a lot for.  She didn't know how to deal with bad vibes and neither did I.  So girls all have bad dreams too.  They all want a hero that is always happy and inlove with them in a good way.  Even if they cheat.

How well do you know the girl.  Could you handle her falling apart?

Gotta be real.

Women like men who are direct and carry themselves with confidence. So by asking "can I have your number" it can imply uncertainty and a lack of confidence. Saying "give me your number" is meant to be said in a friendly tone. For example when you run into a friend you haven't seen since high school, and before you leave you say "hey, give me your number so we can catch up sometime." It isn't meant to be demanding. You say it in a friendly way like your expecting to receive the phone number because why would they have a reason not to give it to you.

It's a survival trick to think being confident implies any truth.  It doesn't.

Weak men and woman can do just fine and strong people can have "accidents"

If someone cannot handle someones weak moments, that is a huge sign of weakness on their part.

That's true,  totally depends on tone.  A casual friendly tone would get me to give it,  an authoritative commanding tone would get me to say get fucked.

Yes I should have been more specific in my OP. But yes, don't be demanding as that will certainly end in a big fat no. Hopefully my old friend from high school scenario made it more clear.

Yeah it did FoL.  Friendly,  non threatening and enthusiastic about my company would feel good and be difficult to say no to unless I really disliked someone,  and that isn't the case here.

Nah, doesn't matter what you say or how you say it. We always sound like morons. (It's on the Y-chromosome.) The trick is to make moron sound cute. That works great.

Just play it cool when you're being flirty, be like 'hey, I'm not going to be working here soon, but I like you and feel like we have chemistry, would you be down to grab drinks or coffee some time?'

If she says no to that, I don't know that any other needier approach would have worked out in the end.

I don't know, none of this sounds PROFESSIONAL.  Your expected at a job to not hook up with co-workers.  YET most marriages start on the job.

I seriously doubt that most marriages start on the job.

As to the OPs situation, don’t ask for her number. Give her yours. If she’s interested she will reciprocate.
