What is this?

Hey guys, just woke up to massive growth overnight and many of the veils broken. I understand that shroom spores are dark purple, but why are the top of the caps purple and they have this insane alien swirling pattern. My tallest shroom also has this, no spores fell on it, yet the cap is dark. Should I wash/scrape off seeds from the base and caps of the shrooms before putting them in the dehydrator or leave them as is and dehydrate? Thanks

Those are spores. Do what you want with them. They're yours

I'll wipe mine off with my finger while they are fresh to clean them off.

Sometimes spore covered fruits looks weird when dry.

Those spores make such lovely patterns. This is beautiful. I found a video of a mushroom sporulating:



At about 1:05 - 1:20 you can see the spores lifting upwards on gently swirling currents. I would imagine the air in a tub or terrarium being very still. In reality it's always moving a little, and I can imagine the ejection of spores creating more air currents. I've read here on Shroomery about mushrooms generating heat, and I can imagine the spores, upon release, being incrementally slightly warmer than the surrounding air, creating an uplifting flow. Fascinating!
