terrarium lid?

another quick question...

I'm using an almost transparent rubber bin for my terrarium. Will I still need to cut a hole in the lid for top light?...or will the light entering from the sides be enough?

Also, the PF tek is unclear on whether the terrarium needs to be placed in the dark with only small amounts of light, or can it be stored in the open with light entering all day?...

can the hole in the lid be any size?...or should is be large?

Here is mine. It is made of light diffusing fluoro plastic. I use an 18" fluoro light and place it on top, elevated off the surface of it. Just hack a big hole in the top and then caulk the plastic in.

Enough light will get through your semi transparent bin to initiate pinning.  I wouldnt worrie about lighting.  Taking the lid off to fan or to spray some water or to just have a look will be ample lighting as well  :smile:

Heres a pic of mine they are pmp style. No holes in the top lid. I leave them out in the open so they get some light during the day when ever the light in my room is on.
