End the marathon dancing ban!

In Waukesha, WI, marathon dancing is a violation of municipal code. Apparently, in the 50s there would be radio contests where people could win a car. Who ever danced the longest would win, but someone died so it was made illegal. Not because people in Waukesha, WI hate dancing.

While, I consider myself to be a progressive: I appreciate pluralism and pragmatic thought, I believe in egalitarianism and that this is a democratic republic of opportunity for all of those who are disenfranchised, and I am an atheist who believes that we must consider ourselves to be these people who are the archtypes in our sociological problems to realize our own free-will, I pray that Tucker Carlson and Paul Ryan will help make people behave themselves.

I am only kind of joking, but I get pretty scared about climate change. I worry about consumerism. The growth in individual wealth is grossly detatched from growth of the GDP. We are in a huge bubble. I love the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but people do have a problem with actual individual responsibility in the land of the free. Market regulation is effective in reducing emissions by creating incentives to use more ecologically friendly technologies, and in the age of information I would be remiss if I didn't believe that we posses the power to surmount the problem of climate change, but I don't want information to be coercive in causing us to modify our individual behaviors.

In Wisconsin, a gas tax is on the table, both houses are red. Taxing fuel consumption to repair roads is not a new idea, but I doubt that it can actually be effective in disincentivizing road travel. This is where information is already creating a niche that I appreciate, but have yet to utilize, home delivery, but I think it is really important to actually choose to not own a vehicle or else the home delivery of groceries and shit from Amazon is only added to the road miles you travel and you go to Walmart once a week anyways, because you have a pickup truck or SUV and you need to put one plastic bag in your passenger seat so that you don't feel so alone.

If elected officials knew how to budget, like most of us broke ass Americans...we wouldn't be in this mess.

As well as a lot of if not almost all elected officials, have money flowing up for elections from the same people they support when in Office.

Dance marathons were big during the Great Depression. There was a movie in the late 60's or early 70's called "They Shoot Horses Don't They" starring Jane Fonda. I don't really remember it except one dance partner would be just about unconcious and the other one would try to hold them up. If anything besides your feet hit the floor, you lost.

I think that there would be a specific technique or choreography to reduce impact on the soles of the feet by regenerating energy, but it would use up to twice as much energy.

This statement is interesting. People who do not have money, I agree, are better at budgeting, but that is because people who don't have money don't borrow, or even plan to be in existence until the eschaton. There are a lot of people who consider our natural resources to be our total amount of money. In the 70s and 80s, people talked about peak oil. Now, the conversation is about climate change. We borrowed against resources that would be unethical to extract.

Your statement is also interesting because of the departure of the growth of individual wealth from the growth of the GDP, because I also agree that it is not our class who is over-extended. Our "upper middle class," lets call them the 9.9%, that is the oil separated from and floating on top of us, the water. The 9.9% cares about the environment and income inequality, for reals, they vote.
