I thought I would share a few pictures I took through the eye piece reticle, what I saw is exactly why I don't eat raw mushrooms.

If you have access to cigarettes or smoking tobacco of any kind, you're able
to easily exterminate these little protein bombs. Simply put the infested mushrooms
in a bowl or a cup, blow an unhealthy amount of smoke in there and put a lid on.
After a few minutes they'll all have suffocated and died from the nicotine, and have
most likely crept out from their hiding places as well.

I don't think those little springtails will hurt you any even if you eat them live :tongue2:

It's the bacteria that's too small for your microscope you have to worry about...

Those are nothing. What you oughta be worried about are things like this:

You don't want to be thinking about that shit while tripping.

I meant to reply to this in my last post. I wouldn't want that in my head for sure, it would probably have me digging in my ears thinking that I have to get it out and pull out my ear drums.

I did find several eggs in the mushroom, tapeworms are a very real possibility since their eggs are spread through the dung, cow are notorious for tapeworms, as are pigs.

That's a very good point about the tapeworms - definitely enough reason for me to never eat fresh wild cubes.

least not in the sense that we do.

I would imagine they're there primarily for the combination of shelter
and high moisture. Do they feed in chitin? I'm not sure.

^ They do have serotonin receptors, but yeah I don't think tryptamines would produce a psychedelic effect. But I wonder if tryptamines might modulate other serotonin-linked functions, like digestion.

I watched the little mite looking critters collect spores and mushroom tissues into ball, like this:


The spring tails look to be eating the mushroom tissue only.

That's a cool picture, do we actually see the spores here, in groups of four?

And they're collecting them like squirrels with acorns! :smile:
