US withdraw from Syria
    #25693085 -

We’re also supposed to be withdrawing a lot of troops from Afghanistan. It was announced over Twitter but the fact that Mattis just resigned makes me think it’s real.

Thoughts?

I am happy.

This is what his voters voted for.

No more war.

except that any withdrawal of troops needs to be planned by both the military and state department in coordination with the gov't of the country from which we're withdrawing so as to determine the best way to withdraw while leaving stability.  it shouldn't be planned by someone who knows little to nothing of military affairs (if, as it seems, it was something not planned by the DOD).

Looks like Afghanistan is being reduced by 50% as well.

According to this axios report the generals really know nothing more than we do. It's reports like this that make me wonder if this will even happen, it could just be the twittler in cheif trying to, "DO SOMETHING!" to distract from all of the problems. There's no rational to announce something on twitter before even discussing it with your top military council.

Quote:
President Trump's sudden orders to withdraw troops from Syria and Afghanistan — and Defense Secretary James Mattis' subsequent resignation — have left even the most high-ranking U.S. military officials questioning what they should be telling their troops on the ground, the Wall Street Journal reports.
“I don’t think anybody really knows exactly what’s going to happen. I’ve read the same stuff in the newspaper you did, I have a little more knowledge than that, but not a whole lot more.”
— Gen. Robert Neller, commandant of the Marine Corps.

The big picture: Military commanders have reportedly received "no timelines, hard numbers or orders" from the Pentagon — “Nothing formal, just tweets,” said Navy Secretary Richard Spencer. One official told the Journal that the resignation of Mattis was "more devastating" than the withdrawal, while another said that the defense secretary's exit in late February would allow for "adequate continuity." This was, of course, before Trump revealed Sunday that Mattis would be forced out by Jan. 1.

We need to withdraw from all countries and worry about our damn country,  our morale

Our economy which inflation slowly goes up non stop because of overpopulation,  wasting tax dollara on needless shit and agencys like the DEA

We should legalize and tax all drugs and fucking fix this countries economy literally from drug money

Better edcuation,  better healthcare,  less welfare and more tax revenue
Also if we dismantle the DEA that is saving billions a year on funding for a lost cause and stupid conservative ideals set back from Dick Nixon who is like our current cronie

Only thing he has done right is sign the hemp bill a few days ago

With as much vitriol out there, that is Trump, absolutely no credit for doing this? I have serious reservations about the man, but he is not in warhawk territory here.

He’s the one who sent the troops there in the first place. It’s amazing when people give him credit for fixing his own mistakes.

This will get a lot of people kilked.

Rhetoric getting amped up:

www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/ex-nato-commander-allies-wondering-if-trump-was-blackmailed-to-pull-troops-out-of-syria

A former commander of NATO said allies of the U.S. are asking whether President Trump was blackmailed by Turkey to pull U.S. military forces out of Syria.

In a CNN segment Monday, Wesley Clark, a retired Army general and former Democratic presidential candidate, said there was no apparent strategic logic for the move that critics view as an abdication to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"You have to ask why was the decision made?" Clarke said on Christmas Eve. "People around the world are asking this and some of our friends and allies in the Middle East are asking, did Erdogan blackmail the president? Was there a payoff or something? Why would a guy make a decision like this? Because all the recommendations were against it. And it looked like all the facts were against it, too."

"We're not quite finished with we're not taking a lot of casualties over there," he added. "The Kurds have been reliable allies. Why do this right now?"

Trump declared last week the U.S. had defeated the Islamic State and announced the rapid withdrawal of all U.S. ground troops from Syria, where they have been assisting local Kurdish and Arab forces to fight the terror group.
