Nemo's Dreamland for OG NES.
A child in the early 1900's has terrifying, lucid extremely psychedelic dreams every evening.
Every evening being a level.
Coolest game I've played to this day still.

Good call - major throwback  I loved throwing candy at animals and jumping inside them, it was genius.

Crysalis was also a good RPG with a rad soundtrack on the NES

Sim Earth was a really interesting old game that allowed you to basically play god over the entire world by controlling geologic, biological, physical, cosmic and other variables on the planet - and see what happened. Sometimes your planet would be blasted to hell and 200000 years after the apocalypse some crazy ass sentient birds would appear or robots could take over the planet... just crazy tings.

I know a bunch of weirdo old ass games that were pretty fun haha - I'll drop some in this thread over time - there's also sites you can directly play them on now like this:

Dune II or if you want slightly updated graphics Dune 2000 which is mostly just a shinier remake.
as for why I would recommend it, if you are a fan of the RTS genre at all, while it may not strictly be the "first" RTS, it is the first of what could be considered "mainstream" RTS games, and layed the framework for every rts that came after it, including the command and conquer games (which are by the same company so virtually identical in mechanics) as well as the warcraft style RTS which was created specifically to act as an alternative.

also, its dune, which is an amazing franchise.
personally I wish there where more games set in the dune universe and I would pay my weight in spice for someone to make a new dune RTS.

there as a game for NES I forget the name and cant find it maybe you guys know it

it was like megaman but you could be a human, dragon, mouse and something else I think, the mouse laid bombs like in metroid I think, the dragon flew and could spit out a big bullet if you held the button or maybe it was three bullets

And I don't know what the mantis is praying for
But he's probably just thanking the Lord
That he don't live in a home
And he don't got a phone
And he don't sit around all angry and bored

I highly recommend both Inside and Limbo(both from same developer).  I played them on ps4 but not sure if its cross platform.

Very bizarre side scrolling platformer puzzle type of game.  It will have you hooked.  They both are very cool games.

Don't know why, I just love it.

I ended up buying that game after my friend played it a whole bunch back in the day. Was never very good at it. It's fun though.

way way better than pokemon. implemented creature breeding way before pokemon did, first game to implemented battle involving up to 3 monsters at a time. the monsters themselves are way cooler, not all cutesy. has a built in feature towards the end of the game that randomly generates new maps and creature distributions so you basically never run out of gameplay. you also don't "catch" the monsters, you woo them into liking you by feeding them, and they can grow temperamental and ignore you during battle if you don't treat them well. overall much more sophisticated gameplay

(this is just a sample of them)

Seems interesting. I like the graphics

I played this a little bit on an emulator a while back and before that I had rented it a bunch on an actual Nintendo when I was little, and boy was I a lot better at it as a kid.

Breath of Fire 3 for the Ps1
That game was my childhood. It's a final fantasy style game (think turn based combat) with neat mechanics and a very long story. Completely filled with little minigames and hidden items. I think I spent weeks worth of hours just fishing in it alone.

My buddy liked this game series, starting with the Super Nintendo original game and he likely played that after getting a PS1 finally, I don't remember if he ever got a ps2 but probably eventually.

Will likely try it out eventually.

Descent

I played Descent Rebirth for both games, it's a third party source port and it makes everything have higher resolution options, etc. The game became free a few years after that.

I tried it for the first tie with a dual analog gamepad and it worked amazing, set up all the buttons and joysticks just the way I wanted them.

I played those games a lot back in the day, even loading user levels and what not, going to load rebirth again eventually and play it a  ton.

I played Nemo in Dreamland when I was like 5 or 6 and again a couple years ago

the train level was tough as balls, I couldn't get past that level, but I could beat the ninja gaiden games. go figure

if you like that check out "Micky's Magical Quest starring Micky Mouse," on SNES, has some good platforming action, it was so well received in Japan they made a 3rd game for japan only, i have the titles on my modded classic SNES

For SNES I'd reccomend Illusion of Gaia, it's a very well rounded top down action rpg from start to finish.

Also Chrono Trigger, it's got that big 80's fantasy dick all up in it. The best turn based rpg ever made probably with Mario RPG coming in at a close second.

There's another game called Out of this world or Another World on p.c.
worth checking out for a couple bucks, it's like a survival game set in 2d, it's really facinating to play and if you know how to beat it, it only takes a couple hours or so.
The entire game was made by like one dude and it was released by interplay
the graphics look so good for an SNES games because it's vector graphics, the only thing in memory is the points on the screen and the colors between those points, so the animations are fluid but take up very little space on the SNES cart
