Time seems to be the only way to measure something that has no start or end. How else would you describe the differant parts of a day, you cant actually measure it with a scale so we invented years, days, minutes exe... so we can visualize where we are presently in life. As with other forms of measurment, time simply makes it easier for us to do what we do as humans. Time only exists within its definition, without that its nothing.

How would you measure something without a start or an end? If we measure a time span of 6 minutes the start is when we begin taking the measurement (0:00) and the end is when we stop (6:00). If there were no start or end what are you measuring?.

You can pick your own starting point in time but no one knows when time actually began. You can also pick a point for your time to stop but no one knows when all time will end. To know the very start and end you would have to know when humans first existed and when they will no longer exist since time only exists within human cognition

No... it is a scientific constant.

Sometimes 10 minutes feels like hours, sometimes hours feels like minutes.
It’s perspective really and all in the eye of the beholder.
A good example I’ve had dmt trips that felt like days, but it was 8 minutes.
Hardly anyone can accuratly quantify time.
However you want to define it I guess.

I don’t think time exists outside of humans use of ‘it’ as a unit of measurment.  It seems that something either is or isn’t, and time would just be humans counting drum beats while everything “is”..

I’ve gotten some revelation flashes while trippin and time is bullshit, outside of being useful as a measurment.  Just like inches don’t exist, outside of the unit of measurment.  That seems to be what it is from my pov..

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time

“Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.”

I don’t think “people made up time to measure things” adequately covers it.

It is fairly observable that a phenomena we call “time” is in effect.

What do people mean when they say “present” or “moment”? Clearly, a moment is a time indicator, and present excludes future and past. Even the concept of “change” is senseless without a medium to distinguish such “change”. Moving from one state to another seems to be only possible with a concept of space and/or time.

If you can go forward in time just by standing still. How come you can’t go back in time the same way? Where are past events located? How come future events don’t coincide with present or past events?

I dunno, just throwing stuff out there.

Qualia/quantity,  order.

Those are the first two letters of my username on here. The I can be discussed later.

In a mathematical set, you have the quantity of various qualitatively different elements,  as well as their order within the set.

Time is an example of order of different sets where each set is a state of the universe within an infinitesimal period of time. Or more accurately the plank second. That's how I conceptualize time.

So I would say yes time exists.

I like an abstract thinker and I honestly use to feel the same way but now,  I feel time is a mathematical reality

If time is not real and only a human construct does that apply to space as well? I'm inclined to think so.

Time is not just a human construct. If there was no such thing as time everything would happen all at once in the same moment.  There is succession of events...things happening before other things..things happening after things...things happening as a result of something that happened before it...actions and reactions.  Dont over complicate shit...

I've experienced everything happening in the same moment and other timeless states. I'm not saying they are real, but it gives one enough reason to question if everything else they experience is real or only within the mind.

You're also only seeing from the human perspective so you're using circular reasoning to support its existence. It's no different than saying god is real because I see it/how would we be here otherwise. It's impossible to objectively prove one way or the other, it's a philosophical question for now.

Not really, no. Causality exists, and causality is the thing we track with clocks. Time is a concept made up by us to measure and track causal changes to the universe around us.

This kinda stuff is much better appreciated if you just study or read about physics. I dont look for answers to questions like this through psychedelics, that just seems like a great way to become detached from the difference between reality and spirituality. Space-time is better understood sober. Drugs can then bring a more profound sense of integration with those ideas.

This is the problem with psychedelics for me. I don't experience it as a problem myself, but I know a lot of people interpret the symbology of a trip as profound physical truth when in reality, understanding such things takes more effort than drinking some magic tea.

Yep, that's what causality is. A sequence of events. There's plenty of wonder to be had at how the universe physically works. I don't need mushrooms to tell me that quantum mechanics is absolutely mindblowing whether you're sober or not.

The universe is an absolute marvel and we've figured out how most of it seems to work. More people should appreciate the astonishing conceptual leaps great physicists have made in describing how the universe appears to work and a cup of tea is never going to make you out-think those people and come up with a better solution. Psychedelics are amazing substances but we need to understand better what they really "show" us without getting totally carried away with pseudoscience.
