The Return Of The King one seems especially obscure, not sure if I have literally ever heard it mentioned

From what I've read the guys who made the animated Hobbit film planned on doing a LOTR one as a sequel, but then the Bakashi LOTR movie came out so they scrapped their project. Only to eventually make a second movie as a sort of sequel to both.

But it's funny as the Bakashi LOTR movie loosely covers stuff from the first 2 books, so the "trilogy" sort of covers the whole story very roughly. But the tone of each movie is much different, the Bakashi movie is pretty violent/dark while the other 2 are more lighthearted.
