I’m afraid that doesn’t look like mycelium. Also whatever you are using as your grain has many busted kernels which will inhibit mycelium growth.

I opened it to take a smell. Cant smell anything at all. Hopefully i didnt contaminate it by doing that. The only thing it might be other than mushroom mycelium is cobweb mold.

Well now, that is bad IMO.  Opening jars for a quick smell is just asking for trouble.

You inoculated some jars with spores and a few days later you got growth that pretty much looks right.  Leave it at that.  If its not myc you'll find out soon enough.

Hmm , mycelium in my experience has the tendency to be fluffier on the top of the jar , not to rip on your project but whole brown rice isn't the best growing medium either, go for WBS or rye, oats or sorghum  , good luck with your grow and keep us posted

I'm really doubting that's mush mycelium....looks too much like a cotton ball that leads me to suspect Cobweb mold.

Ill keep this updated. The only issue with the cobweb mold idea is that its not growing rapidly enough. Ill wait then update
Peace friends xD

I agree that cobweb is extremely rapid and I have had pint jars be overrun with it in under 48 hours from first sighting it also tends to be more wispy and have more gaps than what you have there , also almost all cobweb I've seen is grey not pure white

Looks like REALLY fluffy mycelium, which could indicate bacteria... and you've likely screwed the pooch opening it...

I've just never seen mush mycelium only dense up into a little ball of fuzz like that and not spreading out through the grains....I hope I'm wrong, but be it cobweb or not I have a hard time believing that's cube myc.

:goodluck:

Yeah I think your right I had suspected there is a correlation between bacteria and mycelium becoming fluffy as I have seem it happen on agar , cheers

Yeah, it does actually look rather unusual I only initially thought it was mycelium because I've never seen that kind of contamination before , just watch it and if you only have a limited amount of spawn it might be a good idea to try and make some more if some jars go south

If you opened it up and sniffed it and hovered your mouth over it, if it wasn’t fucked before it probably is now.

Agreed. Also there is small tiny white spots under the ball and when i look close at this white ball it kinda has this cristal look to it. Like there is tiny cristal flakes or some shit on it. Also at the border r tiny fiber like things.
