anything i should know about this?

should i take it a bit earlier then usual cause its extended release?

anything else?

i take it as a sleep aid btw

Seroquel, like many other atypical anti-psychotics, can fuck up your domapinergic system permanently.  Avoid that fucking garbage like the plague.

so you just take it to sleep? that is retarded, both for you to take it for sleep as well as even more retarded for a doctor to prescribe it for such uses.

I'm going to disagree with you here.  I used to have a profound sleep disorder, and seroquel ir or xr worked really nicely for me.  I'd just break the xr tablets in half and they didn't seem much different from the ir pills.

Since I don't experience the extreme sleep problems I used to, my doctor switched me to the more mild Elavil.

Fun side effects of prolonged seroquel use include tardive dyskinesia, meaning random muscles over your entire body start shaking uncontrollably.  Sounds like a blast to me.

the first time i took seroquil it had some paradox effects

i think cause i smoked so much weed up until about a year from first taking seroquil, the first night was like i did some pot, weird pot-type hallucination effects, but never happend after that(my therory is that i was so used to having my brain wired like that that any drug stimulation would have done it (mind you this is after taking a course telling me that pot has resined up my thc receptors so they suck shit at grabbing whatever those things are they grab, so could have been some placebo shit))

i like seroquil though cause it give me the munchies, since i cant smoke pot anymore i love this side effect

They should have never prescribed you XR for sleep. XR will have effects well into the following day, that's why everyone is saying you'll wake up a zombie. Also, you'll be totally unable to trip or use stimulants. I would get back on IR ASAP.

They really should not be using XR for sleep aid. For that matter, seroquel should never be used as a sleep aid, but it's commonly prescribed as such off label. And they never tell people what it's really for. You're taking a dopamine, serotonin, histamine, and adrenaline antagonist usually prescribed as an antipsychotic for people with serious mental health problems.

However, it's side effects normally are not as bad as stated above. It's a fairly pleasant drug for most people, but it is a pretty hardcore drug.

trazodone is a way better sleep agent, an old school tricyclic anti-depressant with few side effects at low doses necessary to make you sleep.

well i dont plan to trip or use stimulants (well caffeine's a must)

2 things in your comment that intrigue me though is serotonin and histamine antagonist

for seratonin
my in hospital doctor switched my trazadone to seroquel cause he said it works well in conjunction with my ssri(cipralex) where they help to boost eachothers effects

and the histamine, i was out of drugs for a week so i got some diphenhydramine to help me sleeep and i was poping like2-3X the dose i use to use like last year (now 2-3 as oppsed to 1) so was the seroquel have a longe nough half life to build "tolerance" towards the nytol i started taking after?

p.s my doctor was pretty clear on what i was taking, whether or not it was just because he new id be on erowid looking it up, i dont know, but he didnt really lie to me in any way like this thread sortof is directed

i do have a profound sleep disorder (like, i don't sleep), and have had this problem since childhood. being on seroquel made it even worse than it used to be.

even if you feel it helped you--i'm not saying it didn't, i'm not you--but atypical antipsychotics like seroquel really should not be used for these types of issues as it can (and usually does) cause SERIOUS long-term issues far after its use has been discontinued. it's a super shitty drug intended for people with serious psychological issues, not for kids who have issues falling asleep at night, especially since it's been shown to exacerbate sleep disorders --it gave me night terrors to the point i was terrified of falling asleep and this feeling has stuck with me ever since, and it was something i had never experienced until being put on seroquel.

that's just my opinion though, and i think it's valid since i took the damn medication for 3 years and i feel like i have a good grasp of how the medication works.

i don't know why this drug is so advocated for sleep on here or anywhere else because it's generally just a crappy drug.

Amen, sloth.  The nightmares are bad for me too sometimes, but I've always chalked that up to my underlying mental illness.  Nice to know that someone else has these symptoms and I'm not totally bonkers.
