Tomorrow is my first day of intensive outpatient treatment * 1

I hope I meet some empty bitches. I hear these places are great for hooking up. But it’s only a group of a half dozen and I’m guessing they’re all tweaked out old people.

Court ordered, only saliva testing for alcohol. Shouldn’t be too bad. Any advice though?

Well it’s 3 - 3 hour sessions a week for 6 weeks. I already quit drinking for the most part and my counselor doesn’t think I should be there but court mandated so.

I think weed shows up but it’s a 24-48 hour testable period. Alcohol is only a day. And I’m too flustered to trip right now. But yeah I can still smoke a few days a week.

Focus on yourself.

If you're stronger than most people in there, they will download all their sob storuies on your back and you'll be carrying all their baggage for them.  If you can, than great. you're helping.

If you can't, your reconvery will stall and you will stop growing.

Save yourself first. Then you can help others.

That being said. Dumping you sob story on the strongest person in the room solves nothing for you. You've once again offloaded YOUR problems on someone else.

Face your god damn problems, eye to eye. That little demon.. .dance with him.  Dance faster. take the lead.  Let him be a little bitch but one step behind you. From there, you win.  Nothing he can throw your way sticks.

Whe you're ahead of all your demons, then you can start dancing with the problems of others and offer advice.  I'll take a dance lesson from a guy who's always a step ahead of me, so why not you?

So, what are you in a half way house in the first place?

A halfway house is much different. I also don’t have a physical addiction. But court mandated.

Quite honestly it’s just recently that I’m not set on death. Had to nearly die to get there and oh how romantic was it. But the class is going to trigger authoritarian issues in my head making me wear to get more fucked up than normal, just like when I got off house arrest. What a long morning that was.

careful with how you let your mind run things. when you are set on "getting fucked up" thats when dosing and other consumption issues get missed because you are hyper focused on trying to replace feelings that you are unwell with by getting obliterated.

just being honest but it doesn't seem like you really have your issue worked out as your priorities scream that you are incapable of being an adult and making choices that are in your own best interests.

not trying to be an ass about it, just speaking up from concern. when you get your thought patterns set on solutions that never address the problem you are in for a bumpy ride.

get yourself worked out and learn how to deal with life without running away or drowning your issues out. casual sex will only bring you down when you are trying to use it as a rush to get over over lingering feelings.

"throw myself from skin to skin but it doesn't dull the pain"

hope all works out and you are making the right choices for yourself.

thanks for not taking that the wrong way as it comes across as assholish.

i just know after being a pretty heavy drinker for over a decade, all the reasons i drank were exactly the same as when i had started running from them and the alcohol eventually stopped working.

it really is an interesting process learning to let your mind roam to all it's favorite scabs to play with to enable whatever distraction you are desiring. the ego loves to "give in" and before you know it you are trying to rationalize all sorts of things.
