I'm Building a Burning Man Theme Camp * 1

Who is interested? The theme will be mushroom meals for anyone and I'll have rock/gem cutting and polishing machines for people to use at their own risk, as well as tons of rough rock and slabs for people to play with, all free. Crystals too and obsidian wind chimes in camp. Campers the first year will be free, but there will be a fee the following years of $200 or more. Mushroom art and propane cannons are a must with a mushroom and crystal bar. I have until april to get placement so it would be nice to know if people are interested. Tickets are kinda pricey and hard to get, but more than worth it. Obviously I need about 6 or so lead members who handle different areas, like water, food, build, electrical, etc. I can do everything but a stage. I have 6 years experience building with Reverbia, one of the biggest and best camps on playa.

Why would anybody pay for that? Will there be Air Conditioning? Do you have to pay to hang out with people at burning man?

Any lead organizer tickets will be comped. No bs though I need people dedicated to the core. Drop outs last minute are a big no no. I'll probably put this out on eplaya too, but thought a few mushroom minded folk would be all about this.

I guess this isn't the place for it. I figured some shroomy folks would want to go. Plenty of people on eplaya, but not a lot of shroomies.

Black Rock Desert about 10 miles from Gerlach Nevada. Not a plant in sight. It's all a fine dust made of ancient seabed shells, not sand. I won't know camp placement until sometime after april.

Sure would be nice to have a bunch of shroomy folks helping to cook mushroom feasts. Burning Man is all about giving, love, massive art, and non stop partying.

My main reason for doing this is that people are so nice there and the more interactions, the more fun it is. I also want a home for my kids when they are old enough to go in a few years.

I'd be the happiest person alive with my kids, especially there. I still know a few really cool members who don't post anymore who I can probably talk into going if they can take work off. I've really been here since 06 and had used the site since 99 I believe.

I'm friends with my now camp leader too, so I can get all the pointers I need from him and our whole build crew. Might even attract a few members over, But Reverbia is the best camp on playa. Doug just won't let me have a bar, expand my obsidian wind chime installations, or bring lapidary machines. He hates loud music too unless it's live music and after dark, or acoustic in the embassy.

I'd like to say I'd come, I love mushrooms and I love to cook!

But about this time last year I was certain I'd make it to the burn... I didn't :shrug:

On another note, where are all these mushrooms going to come from for meals?

By day 10 those are gonna be some soggy ass mushrooms...

Ice is for sale at the burn. I'm planning on spending around $5000 on gourmet mushrooms and hopefully gather a shit ton of summer chanterelles on the coast, and keep them in a commercial fridge. I think 500 pounds should be enough. Imagine the smell of the kitchen! People line up there hours for a god damn falafel:rolleyes:. Shit gets done right on playa. We'll have a large 10k gennie or bigger depending on RV usage. I need a few core members to agree on things. I'm sporting most of the funding to get it going, then camp fees in later years will keep it running. I'm good friends with my current camp leads and was water lead for a few years, but I preferred to make art installations. Reverbia tries to keep the public out of camp for the most part too, and I like the natural flow of people passing through to check out what's going on.

That's a lot of mushroom!

As a contingency plan, I'd suggest getting a few lbs of dried mushrooms as well, in case a fridge breaks down or something. I know a pretty mean mushroom stew recipe with dried boletes.

It'll be a challenge to keep 500lbs of mushroom from rotting, fridge or no. Most mushies tend to disintegrate into slime by day 10 or earlier. you'll have to buy them like the same day BM starts.

It may be more efficient to pre-cook some mushroom meals (soups, pasta sauce, ect) and then just freeze it until burning man.
Not that there shouldnt been any fresh mushrooms, just plan to run out by day 5 or 6.

And yeah I hear what your saying about Reverbia. I felt like there was some cool stuff going on in the inner workings, but all I ever saw was the stage. Didn't feel quite as free to roam through as other camps.

The dried mushrooms can aid in mushroom stocks and sauces. Good to dry any that are about to go off. Try not to let anything go to waste, it all can be used somehow
