I just took my first archery class!

Amazing.

My darts skill really came through for me... I was able to make a 3 inch cluster with 3 arrows and like 30 feet or some shit....

A bow is heavier than I expected... I'll need muscles otherwise I will struggle. 

The teacher is a world class coach.

She has 4 people helping her.... One of them is a young and very pretty Asian girl that has won silver in an international competition...  Local talent from Ottawa...  Of course, I had the good luck of having a pro archer in my life... Watch out zombies...

186$....

I can't believe it personally, but that's the price to get serious professional archery lessons in Ottawa... 6 lessons, then it's a annual thing for even cheaper I think...

How?

Archery is super fun.  We got to do it in highschool.  We shot waaaaaaaaaaaaay farther away than 30 feet though... Like proper aim at an angle up in the air like you see on historical movies kinda shit. 

If you have the option to try different bows  you definitely should shoot both a compound bow, and something large like an English longbow.

Olympic archery is at 70 meters! I shoot a recurve only cuz im super into primative skills and see compounds as cheating.

I never shot a recurve.  We did archery for a semester my junior year and the P.E instructor was super into archery personally so she brought in some other bows she had beyond just the basic garbage ones the school had.  She brought in 2 compounds and some hand made long bow that was big.  Not quite as tall as me but waaaaay bigger than all the others. 

My dad is big into hunting so of course he has 2 compound bows for deer hunting as well.  I never went bow hunting with him though.  But I have shot them a decent amount.

Yup.

I was already wery of what I had learned.

Stand still.  Nock an arrow on the left side when right handed. Pull string, wait, take aim....  Not archery.

Then again, the guy next to me learning yesterday was retired Canadian Sniper.  I had a better grouping than he did.  Impossible.

Canadian snipers are the best snipers in the world and here I am out shooting one with a bow and arrow....

I don't think there is any way for me to actually practice archery with a real bow anymore Unless I go insane like that guy and risk killing myself...

So I'll learn it the wrong way. The safe way.

Then If I decide that I want to beat that guy, I might give it a shot.

Ima have to try holding the arrows in the draw hand I like that tek. Fast follow up shots. I sometimes practice shooting while moving, pretending to stalk things, on my knees or from around tress and stuff at wierd angles. I use one of the kwikee quivers if im out roaming shooting stumps but I think it looks kinda dumb but it is very functional. Back quivers never made sense to me if I was gonna get something on my body itd be a hip quiver and even then fuck that. I mean how many arrows do u really need to carry?

Guess what.... bows are legal worldwide...  Everybody forgot about them though... Kinda like swords.... Thank God for guns I guess, they over shadow everything else that can kill you more brutally.

100% agree on the cheating part. Some people put sights on their recurve which to me defeats the whole purpose. Intuitive shooting FTW.

I'm shooting with a sammick sage 55# right now.
Really want to drop some money on something better though before I go hunting.

Archery is fun. Back in my youth I practiced with a 20lb bow (I was weak)

The only thing it has in common with sniping is that it's not in your face.

I miss having a backyard and wooden target block for tomahawks and archery.
