Tell your friend to pick 'em and inspect 'em. Look for anything out of the ordinary (i.e. odd smells, discoloration, rot, etc). If all seems well, dry them by fan and then with a dessicant. If not, let them be.

well, she was at college and some friends came over one night to start some mushrooms jars
they left town, leaving the jars at her house
she of course, had no idea what to do with them, and just let them sit in her closet till she moved home
she then asked me for help, so we set up a terrarium and got everything prepared
most of the jars had patches of green visible from the outside but some looked alright.. once we birthed them we realized they were all contaminated, so i burried them by her garage..
