They are not different strains, they are different species. Azurescens colonizes and fruits on hardwood chips outside under cool condition ~50F-60F and grows more slowly than P. cubensis. Azurescens is generally the domain of the advanced cultivator. The potency is far greater than P. cubensis.

Not necessarily! One fairly easy method is directly innoculating some pasteurised conifer cones with P.Azurescens spores. After 2-3 months of growth in dark at room temperature the cones are compleately colonised.
Now you can use these cones to spawn an outdoor bed of hardwood chips or even pine bark mulch. If you want to know more about the P.Azurescens cultivation, visit the Workman.
