I'm really miss drinking
    #25155271 -

I'm not going to. I've come a long way, but oh do I miss it.

--------------------

Dear Kratom,

I've been numb for so long that I forgot how to feel
So I don't care if it will break my heart,
Just fuck me till I disappear

Yeah, I do too, when I'm bored.  But that's why I'm here actually.

Chocolate or hard candy can both help with cravings. Also remember that it is much easier to stay away from the first one than it is the third. You got this.:awesomenod:

Did you quit drinking as an effort to improve yourself?

I miss it too OP....it has only been 2 months sober for me and sometimes the thought of making it for life seems a little more than daunting. I remind myself of all the positives I have seen so far and that helps push off cravings...for me anyways. Stick with it man

I started eating chocolate when I first stopped, but had to quit that because I was eating multiple bars a day.

Yeah, that's exactly why. Mental, physical, and financial purposes.

That's pretty much what I'm doing now. It sucks at times though. In some situations or events an ice cold beer was heavenly.

I managed to go a day or two since I said I’d quit.  Now I’m just gonna drink everything I have till it’s gone and not let myself buy more.

I miss weed.

Part of me just wants to set some on fire in my house just so I can smell it burning.

Besides, weed is for chumps. Ask my wife...

I don't think anyone ever got arrested for driving while under the influence of chocolate.:smirk: I know what you mean though,I had a cup of iced tea in my hand almost always for the first couple years sober...just to get over the "always having a bud in my hand"before I stopped. I probably looked like Julian on Trailer Park Boys...lol.

I'm pleased to see so many ex drinkers who have quit the evil booze. What is wrong with a bit of reefer in the evening to take away the urge to guzzle? Or kratom either one. I would say baclofen or equivalent but that can be addictive too. Might work well when you have super cravings. People have quit drinking just by taking baclofen so after you've been off a while it should work even better but save it for when you really need it.

Not sure what else to recommend, maybe valerian root, there are lots of other mild calming herbs and substances. Oliamide for example, its cheap and non addictive. I use some to help get to sleep occasionally.

I just have to warn against baclofen.  I've mentioned it here before, but i believe that baclofen was a factor in the simple partial seizures that i had in alcohol withdrawal.  Maybe for some it would work but its effectiveness is not reliable and i personally consider it a terrible choice for dealing with alcohol withdrawal and cravings.

Substances that helped me were kava, tobacco, and sugar.  Most important things for dealing with cravings however are having a grasp ov purpose in life as well as having people around you that love and support you.

Alcohol itself can produce seizures in wd. Kava I agree with, tobacco and sugar are bad for the health but if it helps you stop drinking it might be worth it.

Here is a govt study on baclofen and seizure

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6848083

Baclofen has been reported to be epileptogenic in man, but many animal studies have demonstrated an anticonvulsant effect. In 12 patients with a history of epilepsy, baclofen was given in the conventional dosage range. In the six patients with anticonvulsant-controlled seizures, none had a seizure during baclofen therapy. In the six patients with uncontrolled epilepsy, two patients had one more seizure per month while receiving baclofen, and a third went from four seizures per month to one per month. Baclofen does not appear to have a deleterious effect in patients with epilepsy.

i don't miss it but i never drank to have a good time i only ever drank to distract myself from the bad times. and then it just reinforces the negative feelings and gets you trapped in the cycle. the actual good times only ever come when alcohol is not in my life

i guess there's some people who can use it in moderation but i'm not one of those people

The only kratom around here is sold in OZ bags round the corner in the deli/bodega, but i wasnt impressed with that shit
