I used to have old underwear and socks.

I Always put off going to the store because they were still "good". Small holes in the socks, nothing horrible and the underwear was still ok but was definitely worn down. So no reason to worry right?

Then in a matter of like 3 weeks, small holes because bigger, my underwear started to rip and after I had done my laundry I had to throw away a bunch of stuff and suddenly I have mismatched socks, 3 less pairs of underwear.... I still put buying new one off.... I tolerated a dumb problem....

Until I decided that enough was enough.

I bought 24 pairs of brand new socks and 12 pairs of boxers. Close to a hundred bucks worth of underwear. That created a feeling of happiness I did not expect lol. I feel better and classier. God figure. I got socks and underwear for years now. And for those of you who will say that it's over kill, I will reply... Yes... I totally was, I can barely fit it all in my drawers lol. But still! I got them

Dumb shit. Real result.

Fix a stupid problem you've been putting off today. Get rid of it. You'll be happy.

Funny, I experienced the exact same thing a few months ago. I didn't go full berserk mode like you but a few dozen bucks were spent. Underwear and socks definitely add a lot to overall well-being. I got me some of the not so cheap kind as well, especially socks, and it's been worth every penny. They last longer, too, otherwise I shred socks like a mofo. Oh and some happy socks too (it's a brand), they live up to their name.
