I got a job selling ganja for the mafia! * 1

I was 14 YO.  I had the OG Soul Brotha #1 haircut with the sides and back shaved and it was slicked back into a pony tail.  I had my Nike jacket on and I was weighing out $20 sacks on the dealer's scale.  The grower visited who was an associate of the Gambino crime family.  I don't think he was a made guy.  He was just an earning associate.  The dealer introduced me as Mike, the black belt in karate.  The grower saw this little kid weighing out $20 sacks and he decided that I should get the wholesale deal, so he put in the order for me to get my buds at $160/oz.  He told me to sell it at $320/oz.  This was non-nogotiable.  I starting selling the fattest $20 sack any kid had ever seen in their life!  I was making about $200 a day, which is a lot of money for a 14 YO kid.
I figured out that the grower was making a few million dollars a year.  The dealer was making a few million dollars a year.  The dealer would flip about four pounds a day.  I started flipping pounds to these Mexicans.  They were reflipping them for $450 an oz. they told me.  That's the way to go in business is just to middle large amounts.  Selling drugs in small quantity to gangster kids in school is dangerous.
Anyway I started shooting off my mouth and got into trouble and thought the mob was going to kill me.  They just scared the shit out of me.  They don't like to kill little kids, but man, was I freaked.  I spent a year and a half waiting for the mob to shoot me or stab me to death.  I started losing large amounts of hair, and got really sick.  I finally freaked out to death and told my dad what was happening, and he asked me how much money I owed someone?  I told him none, and he said he didn't think anyone was going to kill me.  It had been a year and a half and so I decided that no one was going to kill me.  They don't like to kill little kids.

I was mouthing off about how I was down with the mafia!
I went into this mob owned pizza place and this guy sees me and says "excuse me."  He walks outside and gets this guy in a suit.  He asks the guy with the suit, what's that?  He points at the menu.  The guy in the suit says, "That's Sicilian."  The guy says,"I'll take three fuckin' Sicilians to go."  This Mexican guy in a car follows me and my homie to where we eat the pizza.  I'll always remember when he says I'll take three fuckin' Sicilians to go! 
I got really non-social and didn't want a girlfriend.  I didn't want to get killed in front of family or friends.  I was 16 and 17 YO when I knew I was dead.  I was the dead fucking grease spot.
The pot I was getting was some of the best.  It wasn't quite the best but it was close.

Yes it was nice to be a minor for sure,did so much crazy stuff from like 12 onward,never dealt though

The mob rarely kills anymore because it's so difficult to get away with these days due to ubiquitous surveillance cameras and forensic science. They are all-too-aware of this.

Of course, an organization with international tentacles can contract a foreign national to come here, kill someone, then skip the country, so the trail goes cold because they have no legal record here. But that's expensive, requires planning, and then that planning itself can easily turn into conspiracy charges if there is surveillance at any point in the chain.

So what I've found is that the mob doesn't kill its many detractors, it tortures them socially through character assassination.

I was involved with various gangs including a few subsets of the mafia for years. Like any loose affiliation (I hesitate to call it a truly synchronous organization, but then again: neither is the government), there are good and bad people involved in it. The best people I think are the ones who derive their income from granting access to that which is unfairly prohibited.

However, that can turn into exploitation very quickly, and it all depends upon the morality axis of the intentions of the various operators in play. I had some really good mentors in the mob. Some people who just wanted to use their influence to help me, because they know I'm a good person.

What drove me out of the mobs were all the shams: the extortionists, and not the social justice kind, but those who were desperate enough to prey on the relatively innocent, the musical copyright frauds, the seedy hackers, the art thieves and plagiarists, the pimps, sexual exploiters and deviants.

The good mob helps you get front row at the hottest show in town, as in 'we make a lot of money selling dope together, so no one is going to mess with you in this bar. The bad mob runs a smear campaign on you, steals your patents through crooked lawyers, bribes your shrink to brainwash you transgender, steals your identity through hackers, gets your little sister strung out on meth to turn her out, etc...

And there could easily come a point where the good mob can't help you with the bad mob. Which is when you need the help of even more powerful people, but in many cases, you can't trust those kind of people either due to their moral and idealistic alignments.

You know there's a difference between an honest person who attempts to be mutually amicable in an illicit business, and people whose businesses are nothing but scams, to the employees AND the customers.

And that's what got me outta the mob, is too many run-ins with the latter, and not enough help from the former, mostly because my dad is so straight-laced and government-affiliated. Of course, he sees everything the mob did to me is shit that I 'did to myself' by 'trusting the wrong people instead of him' (read: rejecting his fascism).

But no, there are mob people who will suck everything good out of you, take credit for it, and throw your shriveled husk in the gutter, and it kind of sours you to the whole thing, eventually...  Even though there are a few mob people who are relatively benign.

I'll also finally add that there are many corporate and quasi-government entities that are the same or worse than the mob. The point is: they provide no value to the people they do business with. They only remove value without giving equal value in return. And that's not a problem necessarily endogenous to any ethnic street gang. It's ultimately a problem with capitalism in general.

Anyway, shady people will always run bad business like that, and good people will always complain, and then their complaints make them targets. It's the way one-eyed people keep blinding or killing the two-eyed, so that one-eyed people can continue to rule the blind.
