Flint Town * 1
    #25035643 -

This is a new series on Netflix. It is absolutely sickening how these officers are. The show tried to make them look good but if you really watch you will see how corrupt these police are. You will see how remorseless they feel about ruining others lives over silly charges and how they will kill you and justify it at all costs.

This show has me pissed off that they even try to make themselves good when it's too easy to see how they really are. This is where I live. They have a cop who killed someone and he jokes about it.. he seems like he enjoyed it. They talk about Phillando Castile shooting and this cunt of a woman officer tries to justify the most unjust shooting I've ever heard and I can even say a good portion of the police shootings I have seen caught on camera are justified but that one was not.

Cops are all corrupt, you see an officer in this show talk about how he would love to get into a police chase because it's fun. That's not how an officer should address police chases especially because a little girl was ran over during a police chase not that long ago. Police chases often are unnecessary unless there is an immediate threat not just for an adrenaline rush. I've witnessed a police chase where I used to live and the guy they were chasing actually got away. This happens a lot more often then police like to admit.

Man I fucking hate police but this show makes me hate them even more even though in sure the intent of this show is to make people like them.

If you watch this show don't just take my word for it watch it unbiasedly as you can and make your own judgement.

I've only watched the first 3 episodes and already see how shady some of the cops are.  The new chief first states that the police are responsible to the community, but then decides to militarize the police force.  WTF?  I thought it was crazy how the cop brags about killing that unarmed man as though it makes him feel brave.

I know! That cop talking about shooting the unarmed guy was what really got me pissed. His story about what happened sounds off too. These cops are obviously harassing a lot of these people and probably just for the show because more often than not they don't even show up to actual crime scenes for an entire day.

We listen to the police scanner all the time in my house and just the other day there was a call about a gun and the cops, I shit you not, said they weren't going anywhere near that call....

Protect and serve my ass!!!

Ya.  Thts the wild Wild West of Michigan. Nobody gives a fuck there.  I’m not saying it’s right, because the bad policing came first. But through the bad policing and the city not giving a fuck, the poorer mostly black citizens in the area become accustomed to and embrace living like complete animals and now there are police who are naive to how this all started just looking at these people acting like animals and treating them like shit and it just gets worse and worse as time goes on.

It even effects surrounding areas, well off areas. I don’t really understand it fully but growing up near Detroit I remember well off kids as well as kids who were just dealt a bad hand clinging to the whole Detroit identity... it’s somewhere to belong for them and almost protection by association. Instead of striving towards ending up successful through respectable avenues in life they strive to belong among criminals whose activities become glamourized because it seems victorious to make money and achieve success illegally when the authorities whose job it is to stop it from happening seem just as wrong if not more wrong and morally corrupt than the criminals.

Sad situation and it’s hard for me to imagine a solution because humans are so strongly characterized and conditioned by the environments they grow up In.

You are talking about my community you know that right? These people are not "animals" they are people. Everyone is scared of police here. People don't even drive 5 miles over the speed limit because you don't ever know if police are going to harass you or not. I was pulled over yesterday and I myself was scared because I've had 3 instances in the last 2 years that showed me what cops really are. The cops didn't even do anything they gave me and my sister our IDs back and left to go chase someone down. I'm afraid to even grab my wallet after what happened to Phillando Castile.

I was arrested and charged with trespassing at my own house because I told the cop I was not trespassing. Cops don't like to be told they are wrong, I learned that the hard way. In his report he said I looked "wild eyed" and that I was homeless. This made it damn near impossible to fight in court because it would be my word against his. And if I didn't accept the plea for trespassing he was going to hit me with resisting which I did not do. The cop even threw me face first into his car which gave me a bump on my eye for a week. Also if I was resisting wouldn't they have gone through with that charge? They just needed something to stick.

Cops are the problem, cops cause more crime than they stop. Cops don't even do anything about rapes. Rape kits sit for years without ever being processed. So what the hell are cops even doing besides harassing people?

I'd hardly call the people animals.  The government is responsible for the conditions of Flint and further harass the citizens through a militarized police force.  Not all black people are murderers and rapists, which is how the police tend to treat the black citizens of Flint.

I don't know how much you know about psychology or sociology, but are you familiar with extrinsic variables?  How about self-fulfilling prophecy?  When people grow up in an environment where they are treated like they are worthless from day one, where there is a police force that treats them all like criminals, the actions they commit are a product of that treatment.  Social science actually supports that theory.  Are you familiar with the Stanford Prison Experiment?  How about the Peoples Temple?  Knowledge of these things will give you a better understanding of the things people are willing to do under certain conditions.

NOUS333, you haven't even watched the series, Flint, because you stated you do not have Netflix, and already you are blaming black people for their societal conditions there.  I think that speaks volumes  about the way you perceive the downtrodden.  Maybe you should watch the documentary and see for yourself the way the police treat these people -- it's atrocious.

I’m talking about your community the community I grew up in and any community with the problem I laid out.
If you read my entire post you’d know i wasn’t calling them animals. I was saying when police behave like that, people react a certain way and the police in turn respond to that reaction and this cycle spirals out of control eventually creating worse behavior among the citizens they are policing.

This is what made it confusing: "Now there are police who are naive to how this all started just looking at these people acting like animals."

I do concede that I re-read your initial comment where you acknowledge that people respond to the environment in which they live.  I think the police are the ones who act like animals, however, not the citizens of Flint.

Did you fucking read anything I said? I blamed the police! And literally said exactly what you did, when people are treated like they are worthless and criminals the actions they commit are a product of that treatment.    Exactly what I said.  I don’t know what the hell you all missed, I guess my entire point.

I don’t have to watch a documentary to know police treat people a few cities over from where I grew up, I am very familiar. Again you missed my point.  I said because the police treat people like complete shit especially impoverished and undereducated people, they only have a limited number of ways to react to that treatment, that reactionary behavior makes them seem like uncivilized animals to people like police from neighborhoods where they are NOT treated that way and they think it’s justified to treat these people like shit. They do not see that their corrupt behavior caused the behavior they are looking at, new cops come on the scene and do not blame the issues in the city on their predecessors they just join the club and continue treating people like shit.

And although I’m not calling black people or affected people in flint or Detroit or any of these cities animals. I know first hand from witnessing it that the reactionary behavior everyone calls them animals for commiting it doesn’t just stop with the individuals wronged by police. It spreads through families in the community and eventually you get kids acting violent and out of control even though they were never directly wronged by the police. It becomes part of the culture of living in such a place to behave in such ways and the behavior then spreads even further into other communities.  Nobody can deny that and you can’t tell me all these people are innocent for behaving this way just because society/their community is fucked up and dealt them a bad hand. Personal individual responsibility still exists.  I’m not saying their fucked up hand in life shouldn’t be considered at all I’m just saying apologizing for everyone acting a fool is the best way to encourage others to do the same instead of doing something productive so their kids can live in a better place.

Hey man Asclepius already said he misread your post and I now I see I did to my bad.

If you ever get the chance watch this documentary series it's about our home state and really shows how the police are. They are the same way In Detroit as they are in Flint.

And I’m saying when the police act like animals, some of the citizens respond by acting like even worse animals and then the police respond to that by acting worse, and then the citizens act worse. And on. And on and on and on  Then even if the police get their shit together they leave communities and families all fucked up and assume no responsibility in restoring decency, and even if they did try it’s hard to do so because if a person grows up being shit on their whole life by a group of people and one day that group quietly decides to stop, that person is still going to panic every time they see that group....their always going to be stuck reacting to that group the way that made sense to them their entire life. Even if that reaction is uneccesary and outdated, then their children adopt the same reaction.

It’s a fucking mess.

I posted my response before I saw he said that.

And I know how the cops are man.  I’m sure the doc shows some fucked up shit I wouldn’t be surprised.  I live in a very remote part of the state where only the state police really patrol and only after 2 weeks of living here I was wronged and cheated by one of them worse than I ever was when I lived down where they are known for being idiots.  It sucks. And I wish I could say I think there’s something we can do about it. But I can’t. Especially in places like flint. You know they fuck people who they know won’t be able to afford to do anything about it or don’t know how, and the people who can are rarely the people leading charges against them. Hopefully things like this documentary accomplish something.
