I wouldn't mind at all. I'm comfortable disclosing most personal information on this profile.

I live in the city of Newburgh, NY. There's also the town of Newburgh which is vastly different. Crazy how different two places, so close together and with the same name can be.

I don't really know if this is the type of place most people would actually want to visit. Here is the old write up by the Times to give some insight on the state of Newburgh:

It's from 2010 but it is still appropriate.

I love living here though. Yesterday I sat at the rec center park, at the basketball courts, and my heart was completely filled. These young kids live and breath basketball. Older ones there helping and supporting them. They spend all their free time down there to avoid Williams, Landers, the Heights and the life that feels inevitable sometimes. The passion and determination they had is unparalleled. At the far left of the courts were two little kids, maybe 7 at the oldest, alone and trying to teach themselves basketball until the court lights came on.

It seems dead or like it's just this black hole to outsiders but there's a lot of respect and love here. The city is trying to breath despite all of the odds against it. I'm grateful to get a chance to be apart of it.

To be fair, I had some friends visiting here who play basketball. They range in age from early 20s to my age (30~) and they got their asses kicked by the 14 year olds from here. Once my friends came, I called it. "If these kids challenge you guys, you're done for, I hope you know."

Thanks for posting more about your city, BTW. That's only a few hours from where I've been living in RI. Been meaning to take a drive over that way, will make a nice stop off when I do some road tripping when it warms up.

That's IF I actually get my Visa to get back in of course...

weather is damn near perfect most of the year

I have Mormons all over the place. 


Have a ton of refugees, most are loud and obnoxious.

Little to do outside unless you want to travel for 50 plus mins.

Population of over 250k. Average income 29k.

Looking for work outside of the state after graduation.

While I don't particularly like the specific town I live in, the general vicinity of where I live is pretty legit.



Some random cool things...


Where I live...It's possible go snowboarding, wakeboarding, and surfing all on the same day if one really wanted to (and this can be done through out most of the year if it's a good snow season, some ski places are open into July). I've done wakeboarding one day in February, then the next day drove up the hill and went snowboarding, then the next day I went out and spent the day on the beach. I can't think of many places in the world where that's possible through out most of the year.





I'm close to the oldest trees in the world.

I'm close to the largest/tallest trees in the world.

I'm close to the lowest elevation in the US.

I'm close to the highest elevation/mountain in the (mainland) US.




A short drive one way and I'm in Yosemite...a short drive another way and I'm in San Francisco.




High quality herb and hash is widespread and cheap.....Same with LSD.



There are festivals/gatherings going down somewhere in the mountains/forests close by practically every single weekend through out spring & summer...IMO there's quite a happening "psychedelic" "scene" and culture around here.
