Im planing on finally building my own arcade cabinet * 1
    #24965140 -

So i have a few plans for the cabinet and i have all the games needed. I know what pad ill be using for the controls too.

What im unsure about is the pc ill neec in order to run the games smoothly.

I was going to build it from scratch, but i think it would be cheaper to just buy one from a pawn shop.

Any suggestions or tips you want to throw in will be cool too.

Can I get a list of games you would be wanting to run to gauge the power you would need? Funny story, I was actually looking at DDR Arcades the other day. I was wanting to build one and run it off stepmania.

Mostly old school like mortal combat. I plan on putting maybe 100 of the best. I do have all of them. Well, i did. The list is about 6 years old.

Honestly, i planned on doing this about 6 years ago, but life got in the way. I litterally got the itch about 20 min ago while looking at games to play on my phone.

What kind of frontend are you using for your cabinet? What games are you going for, just your classic arcade games, or are you looking to emulate higher end games like PS2/Newer PC games?

Im thinking mostly classic with some of the new fighting games.

Well I can post some links so some build lists I made but for just older games with the possibility of playing some modern light shooters i'd recommend a GTX 750 or 750ti. They are about $50-$80 used on ebay and would be perfect for a decently powerful arcade. You can put them in any computer than has a PCI-e slot. A used computer with a 2nd/3rd Gen i5 intel CPU or above would be absolutely perfect. I'd recommend the Intel i5 2400 which can be picked up for less than $45 on ebay. Look for a Sandy Bridge compatible motherboard, I can look for you if you want but just about any Sandy Bridge board will do. I'd get a micro-atx sized board with one that has at least 4 ddr3 modules. If you want all brand new components though I can give you a build list for something thats less than $400 fully built and could run some decent games. It would be a Skylake/Kabylake build.

Are you wanting to put your components in a standard mid-tower/full tower or something a bit more custom like a cabinet that you build yourself.
