Gregory Scarpa AKA "The Grim Reaper"
    #24311301 -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_Scarpa

Quote:
Gregory Scarpa, Sr. (May 8, 1928 – June 4, 1994) nicknamed The Grim Reaper and also The Mad Hatter, was an American capo and hitman for the Colombo crime family and an informant for the FBI. During the 1970s and 80s, Scarpa was the chief enforcer and a veteran hitman for Colombo boss Carmine Persico. Scarpa was responsible for committing three murders in 1991 and is suspected to have committed a minimum of 80 murders from the early 1950s through 1992. Scarpa is believed by the FBI to have murdered 100 to 120 people.

Between 100 and 120 people. That Scarpa killed.

We talk about serial killers...and rightfully so, but take Jeffrey Dahmer for example, one of the most infamous serial killers in history, he killed 17 -- yes that's a shit ton of people...but still pales in comparison to a guy like Scarpa's body count.

Is it because Scarpa was a hit man? And that his murders were "business"?

Why do we look at hit men in the mafia differently than we do serial killers like Dahmer, Gacy, and Ridgeway?

People glorify anybody related to the mafia for some reason.

Like I remember when they did the promo video for the Fyre Festival (the one that was a complete disaster). In the promo video they said "On an island previously owned by Pablo Escobar." Like why the hell is that a selling point? He killed hundreds of people and was seriously a terrorist of Colombia.

But people were like, Ooooooo drug kingpin mafioso, we idolize him!

Same way it's only terrorism if a Muslim does it. All those mass shooting were just mass shootings. But when a Muslim does it its terrorism. Bullshit, it's all terrorism. And hitmen are def serial killers. They do it for money, but those guys all get off on it too.

There is the fear element where the victims appear to be regular type relatable people.

Where if the cartel has jose mow you down you probably had something shady going on.

There are often strange aspects to serial killers that people find entrancing.

In the summer of 1964, according to Schiro and other sources, FBI field agents in Mississippi [8] recruited Scarpa to come to Mississippi to help them find missing civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner. The FBI was convinced the three men had been murdered, but could not find their bodies. The agents thought that Scarpa, using illegal interrogation techniques not available to agents, might succeed at gaining this information from suspects. Once Scarpa arrived in Mississippi, local FBI agents allegedly provided him with a gun and money to pay for information.

Fucking US gov....

That's one lucky, sick, son of a bitch.  And people like to talk about the good ol' days.

I do think it is a little different because hitman kill people for a reason because they couldn't pay, got on someone else's turf, ect. A serial killer just kills anyone for no reason what so ever and enjoys that.

Yeah good points.

And while I do agree -- man it still takes a special type of fucked up to kill 100 people, even if they are rival gangsters/mobsters.

By the way, doesn't Scarpa look like the stereotypical 1980's used car salesman?
