I cant remember where I got the spores from, but I have gotten GT to grow off the cakes before. The picture below is of the first and only mushroom I ever grew. There were a few others that grew but they were only about 2 cm long. The funny thing is that even the small ones looked as if they had produced spores and everything. Oh yeah and the three jars that I have growing came from that mushroom, the jars were completely coverd within 7 days after inoculation but I waited 2 more before birthing (9 days). http://www.shroomery.org/ubbnoncgi/uploads/GoldenTeacher2(june262000).jpg

So if I were gonna crumble them up, how should I do it? Should I put one layer of casing on the bottom of the container and one on top of the crumbled cakes? Or should I just mix the stuff in with the crumbled cakes? Also what should the casing mixture be? I really want a better yield than 1 mushroom per cake.

Hey Krash, my friend just harvested his first flush of GT's last weekend. He was very pleased with the amount and the trip. He cased four of the cakes in Hawk's 50/50+ method. He got many shrooms over four inches long with no contams so far. As easy as it was to case I would certainly recomend it. The harvest is much more bountiful than just pinning cakes. P.S. He got his GT spores from the Sporechicks. My friend says thank you ladies. ------------------ I get by with a little help from my friends....

Cyber, Yes i did forget to mention that you had the gt as most of us know it. As for sporechicks, theres is different then most. I say this because i have talked to them about it. They have the pes, which is also called the gt by some. The gt that work, cyber have is a much better strain. Huge solid shrooms that get to 12 inches no problem. The stem average diameter is the size of a quarter. Its normal to have dried gt's that weigh over 5 grams. So if size is what you want, the cyber and sporeworks are the place to get them.------------------ Pics of a 15 cup casing comming soon
