I Need Help With a Website

What are most websites built with now a days, for example flash, java, e.t.c. I need to know so I can begin learning how to create websites.

it depends what kind of web programming you want to do

HTML, SQL, DHTML, JavaScript, PHP, perl, and Flash are in great demand. also knowlege of Oracle is desirable :smile:

If you're a beginner, I recommend learning Studio MX which contains Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, and Freehand (along with an extensions application). Just download a copy of Studio MX and purchase a book that covers Studio MX (or at least just Dreamweaver). Be sure to read reviews of the books over at Amazon.com or elsewhere because there are alot of crap books out there.

The first thing you want to learn is HTML.

HTML, then other shit for flashiness or functionality.

What else you include all depends on what you want to do.

XML more speficaly XHTML and of course you'll need some sort of style, CSS will help. That covers makrup and design, PHP, SQL, mySQL, PERL, will all help in more dynamic and/or database driven sites.


While HTML will and would be a great help, It is my opinon that it is outdated and its use should be discontinued. HTML will not surpass 4.1 and the w3 suggests XML, or rather XHTML.

I used notepad for years, I switched to dreamweaver when MX was realesed, I now use MX 2004, it is great... but notepad or editpad work just fine for me. but even when in dreamweaver I always use the code view.. its just a habbit of mine. I just enjoy the numbered lines... editpad works for that as well.
