white fur like hair?

Here's my delima. There was a cake with a green mold spot on the top. About a quarter diameter. The mold has been cut out of the cake and it looks good at this point. Now, there is a mushroom growing from the bottom of the cake. The mushroom looks good in every way except for the shaft has white fur like hair covering it. It kinda looks like a furry catapiller with a mushroom cap for a head. So.. my question... Is this a fungus growing on the mushroom or just an abnormality that happens from time to time? It's obvious that I'm new to this process so any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just logged on to ask the same question and I saw this. My cakes were not moldy at all, just on the second flush and the mushies have some white spiky looking fur down by the base(maybe on the bottom 1/4 inch of the stem is covered), the rest of it looks normal. We need answers experts, Please. Thanks
