wireless NIC question

i have tried and tried and tried to figure out what is up with this computer...my problem is this: my imbedded nic doesn't work above .11% efficiancy...its on an asus M3N notebook with centrinto technology...when i connect with a CAT5 i get full speeds, but when i run the wnic i get shite speeds of about 2.5kbps. i have installed all the latest drivers and all the latest software...the only thing that i have noticed is that in my intel proset app. it doesn't list my imbedded wireless card. i have tried using an external PCMCIA NIC...and i get the same speeds, but that shows up in the intel proset app.

has anyone had any problems with this...i'm think that it has something to do with the centrino tech, but i'm not sure. if anyone could help it would be greatly apreciated...i have been to IRC and several computer help centers and they just tell me to check all my software configurations, but from what i can see, everything is set up right.

it's right next to it...
the efficiency never goes above .11% no matter what i do
it takes about 30 minutes to transfer a 2meg file from another computer

What is the direction of the antenea on the base station. Ensure that it is straight up and down with respect to the ground plane. Try different channels as well, there might be some interference on the one you are using.

Also check to see that the adapter settings and the AP settings are set on auto and not a manual config - 2mbps.

the attenae is positioned correctly and all the adapter setting are set to auto config...i have tried various channels all to no avail. i've tried a PCMCIA NIC and i still get the same results as the imbedded wireless NIC. when i plug the CAT5 into the NIC i get great speeds ~90% efficiency.

the laptop that i had before this one worked fine with the router...i believe that it has something to do with the centrinto technology...i've upgraded all firmware on the router. because the router company said that it had problems with centrinto technology.

i've also made sure that the power setting (radio frequency) is on as high as it goes.

i'm not sure what to do about this one.

the only thing that i can tell you is that my intel proset software doesn't recognize the wireless nic, it only notices the onboard NIC.
