Opiate WD
    #23409253 - 07/04/16 03:50 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Does anyone know any good herbals or anything to allieviate opiate withdraws apart from Kava, Kratom, or weed? Has anyone had experience with wild dagga during WD?

They say spicy food in general helps a lot with it

Then again I've never gone through it myself so I couldn't really tell ya

You want to feed as much capsaisin to your system as you can handle....In dont know about other spicy foods releasing endorfin.

Immodium

Something there is mysteriously formed,
Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,
All-pervading, unfailing,
I do not know its name; I call it tao.
If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

It's just a shot away..

Thanks for the help. I have heard spicy food stimulates pain receptors before. Running does the same thing, but that isn't happening

Do not eat spicy food, you will surely regret it later.

Are you trying to quit? Or just ran out or something?

Idk about herbs and shit, but water/gatorade, Imodium, some Aleve or other nsaid, and try and eat when you can.

Eat stuff like granola bars and shit high in fiber.

If you aren't against pharms some requip or something similar for the RLS, xanax or some benzo for sleep and anxiety, or clonidine if you're against using benzos.

And of course, suboxone if you want it to be bearable, depending on what/how much you did 4-8mg will make the WD not bad, and slowly cut the doses over the next five days. I highly recommend not going over 8mg a day, the purpose is not to get high, it's to be functional.

If you're an addict trying to quit on your own then good luck. Not to be discouraging, but the odds are heavily skewed against you.

There's lot's of people here who managed to quit, without rehab or maintenance programs, but it is very difficult to do.

If you're trying to go all natural, there isn't a whole lot other than kava or kratom I can really think of.. but

Gabapentin was a life saver for me during my W/D days. I've still relapsed, several times. The most recent being last October, but I've managed for the most part to be clean. I quit 3 years ago and in that time I've managed to stay clean for 28-30 of the 36 months, after relapses. I had a bad relapse last spring/summer.

Gabapentin, pregabalin, benzos, clonidine all will help you. If you go to a doctor there's a good possibility they'll prescribe you some stuff to help ease the W/D.

Also, a lot of people go the maintenance route and use subs or methadone but in my experience, most people I've seen who used maintenance end up using both, using it to get high, etc. and end up worse off than they would have been just quitting cold turkey.

If you're really stuck and can't kick it though sometimes its necessary. But I've seen several friends go that route (sub or done) 2 died of OD this year, and the rest are now using heroin or other opioids on top of their methadone or subs.

It's unfortunately an ongoing battle OP, for me the cravings have never fully gone away, I just know now it's always a trap, and using just once ("chipping") never works.

You can do this man. You really can. It's possible. If you ever have any more questions drop in the Other Drugs Discussion sub forum if you have access. Lot's of people who have gone through this same thing over there that can help provide advice, and an ear to listen.

I don't know if they ever fully go away, I found that if you want to do some dope, try to occupy your mind with something else, and you will forget about it soon enough, but also don't feed those feelings energy.

If someone asks me if I ever crave dope, I always say no, even if I do sometimes, best not give any energy to that stuff.

But OP, I found DXM and Loperamide (immodium) to be helpful, nothing is going to take the WD's away completely except for methadone/suboxone.

Obviously his tolerance plays a huge roll, but a lot of people can find relief with only 2mgs or less...
Especially with a taper plan, if 2mgs works, take that for a couple days, go down to 1 or 1.5 for a few days, then half that for a few days, then  1/4mg for a few days and jump off.. Not to exceed 2 weeks
(is what I've read works for a lot of people..)
If you have a few sub strips, there are taper calculators/plans to get you down with minimal discomfort
