Allergic to maple syrup? Sounds like my brother. He's allergic to every tree and nut along with most all fruits.

I still have some Canadian Maple syrup I call my "special occasion syrup "

ive seen videos before, it looks about as hard as drilling a hole into a tree and draining it of its life into a bucket then boiling off the excess water from it and bottling it

it's a surprisingly labour intensive process--the average tree will produce less than a litre of syrup every year, after the reduction process--the average acre of forest will produce 100 litres--and there is only a short period of time when you are able to effectively collect the sap

So yesterday i learned that Maple trees explode loud like cannon blasts if you don't harvest the stuff in time from cold weather

Had it many times.  Pretty strong flavor.  Not the best syrup at all.
Homemade syrup is better.

some people make it homemade, used to love real fresh maple syrup. in a different part of the world now. imo maple syrup is the best but i am biased. i am also a honey person for sweetener over suger any day of the week.

The amount of sap needed for just 1 gallon and the time it takes to cook it all down... it's expensive for a reason.  It was an iffy spring for sap here in upsate NY this year, was actually too warm early on.

I went to school with someone who lost an arm when a maple tree he was climbing exploded when he was a kid
