A 3 month sowing window, first out of the gate doesn't ensure victory!
To start straight away offers a headstart on the best of categories only, simply as you gain more time to grow them out, change stocks, and so on.
But for the fastest flowering, it is total time from each entrants sowing to first flower that we count, so a later entrant can still win if their total time is shorter.

No, the competition hasn't started yet, and entrants have to start from seed.

Sweet, I didn't miss it yet. Don't expect much in the way of winning from myself, but it should be fun to participate anyway.

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

:whathesaid:

All my preperations have turned to shit and I haven't had anything to graft in a while so I'm probably out of shape in that area but when these Russian guys send out my seed I think I'll be back into business.

I'd give my entire nut sack (and it's contents therein) for some more of those awesome Loph seeds like I had last year :ooo:

Yeah now that you mention it, I've gotta go through my seeds and see what I've got.

Well I've got some seeds coming, and some pere cuttings, but I don't think I'll have any peres ready by the time this thing is ready, need to research how long they take to grow but I assume I won't have much grafting stock even after 3 months

Got my seeds, (ariocarpus, lophophora, astro, turbini and matucana madisoniorum.)my little containers, my mini greenhouse and my rocks.

I'm just waiting for spring to come to put my cacti outdoors and make some place under the lamp.

I think I'm gonna start at the end of april.

:sun:

Edit : peres cuttings take two weeks to root and two more to grow. Plant your cuttings at the time you sow and you're good to graft when the seedlings get their first spines.

In three months I went from 18 plants, half unrooted, to now I now have 80 plants. Just counted them this morning to get an estimate. I chopped them all up so that they had 3 nodes under soil, two leaves out the top, and into the humidity dome under my t8. Then two weeks later they had roots and they went into slightly bigger pots, they'their final grafting homes. They were then put under a 1000 watt mh. Those are now over 10-12 nodes high only about 4-5 weeks after cutting.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, just been crazy

Oh my. They really do grow terrifically fast. No idea what I'm going to do with them, I'm going to buy a shoplight ballast and some tubes but I'm so broke I know I won't be able to give them what they need. I'm hoping to be able to put them outside this summer, but last summer was so strange, it was barely ever that warm and humid, I'm used to it being around 90 with at least 80% humidity.
Going to put the trich seedlings and loph out there when the time comes, hopefully they like it. Kaktus sweet plants dude! I wish I had room to grow food.
