:shrug: idk, I'm just going with what the professional said.

It seemed legit to me because it just feels like I've had it in for months now. I can play with it and push it in and out and switch out jewelry for my labret without any problems. Seems healed to me.

He was really clean and sterile about the whole procedure so I can at least give him credit on that. But if he doesn't know what he's talking about on that then maybe what he considers healed and what is really healed are two different things? or... idk :confused: I was just sort of hoping I could trust what he said. He owns a pretty reputable shop.

Yeah, and pretty much any source online says otherwise. It's probably fine, but it's not totally healed yet. I recently got a couple piercings, about a month ago, that I can play with, change, etc. but they definitely aren't healed. Still tender with pressure, still get crusties if they get irritated. Any APP source you come across will say a labret takes at least a month to heal, not 5 days.

Thanks for mentioning the coconut oil by the way. Even though I oil pull regularly, I haven't since I got my piercing because I wasn't sure if that was okay or not and it was difficult to slide the barbell up and down so I'm swishing with coconut oil right now and all discomfort is gone and the barbell slides easily now.

I wish my piercer for the tongue had told me not to use mouthwash that has alcohol in it...all she said was "Rinse with antiseptic mouthwash."
The mouthwash I've been using has alcohol in it. I have some Dr. Bronner's Hemp Tea Tree Oil soap (tea tree oil has natural antibacterial properties) so I just squirted some of that in my mouth with water and gargled that to clean it until I get some of that Gly-Oxide. My tongue definitely feels better than it did yesterday though.

Lesson learned: Do your own research.

Also, after reading online I learned that the "white-ish discharge" coming from my tongue is normal. It doesn't hurt bad at all either, just slightly uncomfortable (who would have thought that shoving a metal rod through the middle of your tongue would cause discomfort?) so I think everything is okay. Thanks for the input everyone.

No prob. I oil pull with coconut oil too, only makes sense it would help if it comes to any infections or inflammation. I use coconut oil for acne and cuts and all that shit, same with honey.
