Got my tongue pierced. Infected?

So a week ago I got my first piercing, a labret. Well that healed and I still had a little cash so I got my tongue pierced like day before yesterday.
I got both piercings done professionally and I clean both piercings regularly. I'm careful when I brush around my tongue piercing and I gargle multiple times with antiseptic mouthwash. I'm careful when I eat and I don't smoke cigarettes (I smoke weed though) and I'm not drinking for the next few weeks while my tongue heals (not a big drinker anyways).

Well what looks like mucus keeps seeping through both ends of my tongue (the top where the piercing comes out and the bottom of my tongue where the piercing comes out). I have sterile cotton swabs (from doing spore to agar) that I use to wipe the mucus-looking substance away right before I rinse with mouthwash.

It's not leaking out a shitload, it just covers around the puncture hole. When I go to wipe it, it has the consistency of mucus as well. I'm not in agonizing pain or anything (my tongue is obviously sore though) but is there something else I should do or is this natural or what the hell?

Sounds normal-- I remember it.
Go buy some Gly-Oxide--- best thing EVER for mouth piercing-- also, careful with "mouthwash"-- alcohol causes inflammation, and you don't actually want to strip your mouth of all bacteria, as they protect more than harm.

I can already tell which piercing you'll get next by those two. You're going to get your eyebrow pierced eventually aren't you?

Also, wouldn't alcohol be better than cigarettes OR weed when it comes to keeping it clean? I mean your mouth already deals with a ton of bacteria, might as well use somethin that's somewhat decent at disinfecting than having smoke in your mouth in general. Idk though, I took out all my piercings a while ago, don't remember all the details when it comes to keepin em clean.

Your mouth sounds pretty gross though, go swish around some saline and coconut oil or something. That'll definitely help if it's infected.

I used to just use warm saltwater as mouth wash when I first got my tongue piercing. No smoking or drinking at all

Any time you get a piercing, it's normal for fluids and shit to leak out. Your body is trying to heal itself. I've never had my tongue pierced, but I have lip piercings. If it starts to hurt a lot more than normal, it's probably infected.

Haha yeah, I'm considering my eyebrow. Also planning on getting my ears pierced for gauges....and maybe my dick. Not the head of it, right below the head.
And no, I much rather trust weed than alcohol. I view weed as a healer. Some would disagree but I believe the weed helps more than anything else I'm doing.
And my mouth isn't any grosser than most other people's. The human mouth is disgusting anyways. I do oil pulling with coconut oil regularly.


My mouth is doing okay though. Hasn't gotten any worse and is actually a little better.


I should probably start rinsing with salt water as mentioned by a few people now.


Thanks for everyone's input. Sorry about my biased view on cannabis, I'm one of those freaks that thinks it heals everything except for death.

Think about it pretty heavily if you're gonna stretch your ears. Even tattoos are more accepted by everyone else, and my plugs were huge but I ended up getting tired of em and had to pay almost 3 grand to stitch them up. Now I have some scarring on my lobes that slightly resembles an anus.

if you have doubts just go to your piercer. They'll be able to answer any questions better than some online forum, particularly one aimed at something other than body mods.

Also your labret isn't healed already. Piercings don't heal in a week.

The labret does. He told me it would take 3 - 5 days for it to heal and that it healed much quicker than other piercings. And it is healed and perfectly normal now. My tongue on the other hand will be a while.

Haha, that's still relatively large. So many people have them now though it's not a big deal.

Now I don't trust your piercer though. They don't heal in days.
