Looking for online streaming software?

Looking for some open source code to stream videos via my website.

Preferably the player can play from google drive and youtube.  Any ideas where to find this?

Look for something that works with youtube-dl.

Locally mpv works great, for your website I'm not sure...

It's free but I tried using it a number of times and it just froze up and crashed on me.  It's not open source.

I do have and use OBS - https://obsproject.com/

This is open source and works very well.  I had to play with it a bit because while streaming my CPU would tap on 100% usage.  The problem was that the resolution for my stream was set to high.  Easy fix.

What are you talking about? Its released under GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1+.
Though, you are right, its been years since vlc has been worth using.

What are you talking about? Its released under GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1+.
Though, you are right, its been years since vlc has been worth using.


:smile:  Unless I'm missing something...  This is written right on VLC's homepage

"VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. "

Either way, I think we both agree that other alternatives are better than VLC.    I like OBS but I'll have to look into Red5
