Re: Eatin stuff in a parked car [Re: pirate-blues]

I've actually spent quite a bit of time wrestling with that pirate. On one hand, I know what its like to not want people to talk to me. Especially if its some asshole whos like "So, what do you think of them Nicks" or whatever. But on the other hand, girls like to bitch about not having a boyfriend while at the same time getting pissed when guys hit on them. What they REALLY mean IME is they are tired of "normal" guys hitting on them. They are fine with being hit on if he looks like Brad Pitt, talks like a gentleman, owns a nuclear power plant, and skydives in his free time on his own private jet.

I really do get that it would get fucking annoying, and the prettier you are the more it happens. But I personally find this attitude offensive and unfair. I try really hard to see it from women's point of view but I've found that very few if any women ever think about how depressing it is to be shot down and given that look of "I know what you're doing, fuck off." Women have no sense of rejection in comparison to pretty much every dude who is under an 8 or isn't a multi-millionaire. I would love if people could share experiences in a more real way, like virtual reality kind of thing, so we could find some common ground.

Anyway, for all I know you didn't even mean guys hitting on you, but I'd wager you did

I just mean being talked to in general. I'm pretty friendly and people tend to think I'm a lot more happy go lucky and extroverted than I am, but I'm definitely an introvert, and there are times when I just want to chill and not really chat. I pick and choose where I go carefully or I stay home then though, as long as the place is low key and laid back then I find that most people there are just there to chill too and it's all gravy.

And, I'm an odd duck in this sense but right now I am not looking for any kind of relationship, casual or serious. I'm actually actively avoiding it and just kind of trying to better myself at the moment so I reject everyone without discrimination. I go through these phases semi-frequently, and sometimes I've met guys I've been extremely attracted to who have hung around long enough that I did cave and get involved with them eventually - but normally these are people who are in my life via work/social circle, and I have a lot of time to warm up to them. A cute guy I meet at the bar will probably get as far as any other guy there unless they catch me during a time when I'm willing to meet people and date and stuff.

I know what you're saying though. I think girls have very very high standards, and I would hate to be a dude in the dating scene. I have even higher standards, but it normally manifests as seeking perfectionism in myself/life before looking for someone to share it with.

I'm taking myself out of the dating scene right now myself, for similar reasons.  Just trying to work on myself and make myself the best person I can be.  I'll still keep my eyes open for any keepers, but im trying to stay away from casual sex.  I'm not sure why exactly, but I think I may be done with that stage of my life.

My roommate has such high standards and hasn't gotten laid in over a year, yet it's on her mind constantly.  She won't even give pretty decent looking guys a chance and complains about not having a boyfriend.  Well no shit girl, if you don't give people a chance how the hell are you going to find one?

It's frustrating because it leads to a lot of late night, drunk crying sessions and stuff when it could be easily remedied.

Pretty much this. Had many a drunken night chowing down in the car. Is that some kind of weird stigma?

I'm all for trying to better yourself & I'm somewhat similar when it comes to relationships. But this post sort of contradicts your whole story on meeting the really hot guy you described & ended up letting him knock your socks off withing 2 hours of the introduction.
Just saying :tongue2:

What post are you talking about?
I'm not saying I haven't done that before but I don't recall writing about it here.

nah, I believe it. I've been in relationships before and don't have any issues meeting people, but I'm usually single more often than not. I have periods of my life where I feel like dating and am okay with casual stuff with the right person - besides, I have yet to meet someone who can get me off better than I can get myself off.

I don't understand the mentality of 'needing' someone else in your life. I know people who don't feel complete unless they're in a relationship and as a result they end up in these dysfunctional piece of shit ones.

I don't understand it. Then again my longest relationship was a little over a year and we ended it because he never felt like he could fully break down the wall I had up. So I'm in no position to preach.

Trust me, I don't get it either

Mostly I just don't get the chance to meet people. Also I tend to be myself around people I don't have any interest in and it for some reason makes them fall in love with me. I've hurt the feelings of a lot of fat girls in my life

Plus the way somebody types doesn't really say anything about their chemistry. I actually knew a girl IRL that was so effing weird, she mumbled all the time and said strange things and shit. I liked her because I like weird people and I really connect with them but most people didn't like her. Anyway I talked to her a bit on facebook chat and it kinda reminded me how little an online typing style represents how somebody appears in real life. I guess I just give off bad vibes

You know, I never understood this mentality. It seems to be more common in men. I don't think about sex as "getting off," the pleasure is in enjoying each other's bodies and seeing your mutual enjoyment. A girl doesn't even have to touch my dick (i.e. heavy petting or w/e its called) and I enjoy it far more than masturbating. In fact, for me the orgasm is the worst part because it means its over (for a guy obviously)

I guess thats why I don't really understand hook ups. I wouldn't turn a girl down but helping someone I don't even know get off sounds kinda gross on the emotional level

weird how this thread went from food to dating. I'm an only child and am comfortable as fuck eating alone. i don't think it's weird at all...
I'm also on the path to bettering myself outside of a relationship. My marriage is on the rocks and we are cohabitating for financial reasons and for the kids.
I definitely gave off needy vibes, coupled with some depression puts me in an unattractive state. I need to find happiness within myself so I'm giving the wife her space and focusing on being the best dad/friend/person i can be.
I want things to work out in my marriage but I can't keep doing the same old bullshit and expect a different outcome.
