Cold Shock - Dunking - Dunk & Roll: which one?
    #2276902 - 01/27/04 09:08 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Hi all. I've been searcing for the whole morning the shroomery FAQ and
the old posts for all the information regarding this three methods
(went also on nansnook.com). Now I just wanted to know what do you
think it would be choice you'd do with some of my cakes (PF style)?

The substrate is made of 150 ml verm, 70 ml BRF and 60 ml water, the
jars have been incubating for 15 days at 28? C / 83? F with 50% of
humidity, and now are ready for the birthing.

Never done a dunk for the first flush, and this time I'd like to see
what the results could be. What would you say?  :eyemouth:

For sure if I'll be dunking I'll have to cold shock...  :smirk:
I was just asking what you'd do in that situation...

Clear isn't it?

Do what i did in the same situation, dunk some dont dunk some roll some dont roll some, see what you think does the best. It is never the same from cake to cake or person to person.

then youll know what to do the next time. youll see the results side by side

why not do both

On my last friend's cake, he would cold dunk for 6-10 hours then roll in a plate of verm then stick in the fruiting chamber. Results were very pleasing

So either after a dunk & roll your friend put the cake in the fruiting
terrarium? I've been reading that after this process D.& R. it
would be good to let the mycelium get once again over the verm, so
the temp set to 83? F and hum. at 60 % (almost)...

Indeed Max, that's what I guess I'll be going to do

after D&R my friend sticks it in the fruiting chamber at fruiting conditions (72-76F temps, 95-100% RH) and the myc grows over the verm within a few days.
